Breaking down a brief view of our step by step process of rebuilding some 2.0 King piggyback coilovers for for his sand car. Time to get him ready for dune season! Make sure you guys call to get on the schedule sooner than later as the schedules going to start filling up!

1. Remove the coils and give a visual inspection for any broken coil sliders, spring retainers, uniballs, and exterior damages.

2. Dropping them in to our heated aqueous to get them scrubbed clean and prepped for service. This assures we aren’t dropping dirt and grime into the shock and that we are working with a clean shock from the get go.

3. Pop ‘em apart! This one was emulsified (or blown in easier terms). The floating piston seal in the reservoir had allowed oil and nitrogen to bypass thus mixing the two and creating an extreme loss in performance.

4. Full tear down of all the shaft components. We decided to replace all the uniballs so that everything is fresh for the season. All the shims are individually hand cleaned and inspected for cracks. Valving stacks are double checked to make they are the same left to right. We inspect the pistons to ensure the bleeds are the same and that the piston faces are flat for the shims to sit against. Seal heads are hand cleaned and inspected, especially when serviced by other shops in the past. We find many seal heads that are damaged by inexperienced people use picks to dig the seals out.

5. A step most people skip. We full disassemble the piggyback bridge and top cap. The piggyback bridge has a few smaller o rings that see a lot of pressure and heat. This can soften and deform them over time.

6. Cleaning the threads out on the top cap so everything goes together smooth with fresh loctite. (Pulled the top cap after this but forgot to snag a picture)
7, 8, & 9. Reassemble, bleed, put coils on and finished product!

500 miles of silt, dust, rocks, and trees at Vegas to Reno and these shocks on .terrana Mav R look brand new under the Listen to how well attached these stay with the extra wide heavy duty Velcro. A cinch stitch keep the coil savers from sliding up. Proprietary material does not affect shock temperatures and also prevent it from getting pinched in the coils.
