This 2015 Volkswagen GTI came in with damaged drain plug threads in the plastic oil pan. Once the threads are compromised, replacing the drain plug isn't a reliable repair—the correct fix is replacing the oil pan.

It's a simple repair, but one that's important to get right. Proper torque specifications and the right procedures help prevent problems like this and ensure future oil services can be performed without issue.

Sometimes, doing the job correctly is the most important part of the repair.

Old vs. new.

This 2015 Audi Q5 came to us with low power and a check engine light. After diagnosing the low boost faults, we traced the problem to a failed turbocharger.

The first photo shows the old turbo next to its replacement. It's always interesting to see the difference between the worn component and the new part that's going back in.

If your European vehicle feels down on power or the check engine light comes on, it's worth having it diagnosed before a small issue turns into a larger repair.

When the A/C quits, the compressor isn't always the problem—but sometimes it is.

If your Volkswagen's air conditioning isn't keeping up, it's important to find out why before replacing parts. A low refrigerant charge, electrical issue, leak, or failed compressor can all cause similar symptoms.

We start by testing system pressures, inspecting for leaks, and verifying the cause before recommending a repair.

In this GTI's case, the compressor was the culprit. Accurate diagnostics mean fixing the problem the first time—not replacing parts based on guesswork.

With Arizona summers in full swing, cold A/C is more than just a comfort. 🌵❄️

Chasing electrical faults led us to this masterpiece.

A main power cable held together by hope, electrical tape, and questionable decision-making.

Needless to say, this wasn't factory. 😬

This BMW N20 came in with a no-crank, no-start condition.

After disassembly, we found a failed timing chain guide and enough broken guide material in the oil pan to explain the problem. Further inspection revealed the timing chain had jumped 7 teeth.

As N20 engines accumulate mileage, timing chains can stretch and begin wearing on the plastic guides. Once those guides fail, the chain can jump timing, leading to anything from drivability concerns to a complete no-start condition.

Fortunately, this one avoided any valve-to-piston contact or internal engine damage. A new timing chain kit, oil pump chain kit, valve cover assembly, and oil pan gasket got it back on the road.

Brake service on a 2016 Porsche GT3.

The tool mounted to the wheel is used to service Porsche's center lock wheel system. Instead of multiple lug bolts, the GT3 uses a single center lock nut that requires specialty tools and specific procedures for removal and installation.

It's one of many manufacturer-specific tools we keep on hand to properly service the European vehicles that come through our shop.
