Pontiac's Firebird arrived in February 1967, five months behind the Camaro it shared a body with. The 400 was really the GTO's 400 under a different code, held to a 325 horsepower rating so it cleared GM's weight-to-power rule. The trick was in the linkage, which kept the Quadrajet's secondaries from swinging fully open.

This one carries that 400 with a four-barrel and dual exhaust, backed by a 700R4 automatic for easier highway cruising. Power steering and power front discs handle the rest. Champagne gold over black vinyl, with the factory fold-down rear seat, tilt wheel and AM radio.

The 1992–96 Bronco is the one enthusiasts call OBS. Ford spent that run stacking on safety: rear three-point belts anchored to the hardtop in 1992, four-wheel ABS from 1993, a driver's airbag in 1994. Those belts are why the top got security Torx bolts, Ford would rather you left it up there.

This '95 still wears its original Oxford White paint over Opal Gray cloth, hard top in place. The 5.0L 302 EFI runs through a five-speed manual to four-wheel drive and an 8.8 rear, with BFG all-terrains under the corners. 143,678 believed-actual miles.

The 2000 was the last and quickest of Datsun's Fairlady roadsters, the car that set the table for the Z. Its U20 four paired a cast-iron block with an aluminum alloy head, and for 1968 through 1970 it was rated at 135 horsepower. The five-speed behind it used Porsche-type synchromesh, rare kit for a production car in the sixties.

This one is a single-family car since new, with documentation going back to day one. Numbers matching U20, dual SUs, five-speed and front discs, wearing red over black with 73,157 believed-actual miles. Panasports and a removable hardtop finish it.

Chevy's 1969 trucks changed most where you couldn't see it. The 327 was stroked out to 350 cubic inches that year, and the four-wheel-drive models picked up the New Process 205, a cast-iron, gear-driven transfer case still considered among the toughest ever bolted into a half-ton. K-series buyers also rode on leaf springs front and rear, while their two-wheel-drive counterparts got coil springs out back.

This K10 keeps the four-wheel drive and updates everything around it. A 6.2L LS3 rated at 530 horsepower runs through a 4L80E automatic and 3.73 gears, with power discs at all four corners doing the stopping. Black over brown vinyl, short bed, 22-inch TIS wheels, air conditioning, and 105 miles since the build was finished.

The 280Z landed in 1975 as the first Z to trade carburetors for Bosch L-Jetronic fuel injection, a fix for tightening US emissions rules. American cars also gained bulky federally mandated impact bumpers in the process. By 1978 the S30 generation was signing off, with the 280ZX waiting in the wings.

This one wears slim JDM bumpers instead, lowered over alloy wheels in Wine Red Metallic. The injected 2.8 breathes out through a header, paired with a three-speed automatic and power front discs. The air conditioning runs R134 and blows cold.
