Have you ever seen a lake WITHOUT any algae? Apparently, the pontoons on the Bennington Boats are not built well enough to tolerate it, so of course, it is not covered in their so called "Bow to Stern" warranty.
Our boat isn't even 5 years old, and the pontoons are all pitting, which they claim is from the algae in the lake. Anyone have any ideas what else may cause this that they are trying to avoid?
How long before we have holes in it. They can sell us an $1800 coating to put on them, but I question why that wouldn't have been done in the factory to prevent this in the first place.

Oh yea, and the coating on the motor is falling off.

So after waiting almost 6 months to get the new seats in, we are now being told they will need to keep the boat for 3 weeks! We were originally told it would take 1 week to install. So now that we are in boating season, they want it for 3 weeks AND they are going to charge us for picking it up to take it to the shop for fix something that should totally be covered under warranty. Action Water Sports and Bennington certainly do whatever they can to make using the warranty as difficult as possible. We were told that the shop is very busy with warranty work. I guess we should have bought a SunQuest like our neighbor did. He has only had 1 issue in 4 years and no problem having it dealt with.

So, according to our files, it was Oct. 25/22 that we contacted Action Water Sports and send them these photos of our seats. Here it is the end of January, and we just got confirmation that Bennington will replace them out of "goodwill", after much back and forth. The correspondence from 10/25 does state from the rep that it is "burn damage". Again, this is where the cover sits on the top of the seats. The boat is less than 4 years old!

So I received a phone call from my local Bennington dealer this afternoon. I am now being told that the warranty does not cover sun damage which we believe is caused by the excessive heat when our dark blue cover is on. I was also told we had to have the cover on our boat every day, and that the "fine print" of the warranty we received AFTER our purchase, states it does not include sun damage.
We went to the boat show and talked to all the dealers. We went with Bennington because the sales rep told us that Bennington would in fact warranty everything. We even asked about the seats because the sun kills everything in AZ.
We have other Bennington boats on our lake, and nobody covers their boat. One boat has even had it's seats changed out by Bennington because of this issue, probably 4-5 years ago with no issue. Now all of a sudden, it's not covered.
Bennington has agreed to change out 2 seats for "Goodwill". These are the seats that have the stitching issues.
I was also told that Bennington wanted me to know that they have seen this page. Okay. That seemed like a strange statement. I asked if that was meant as a threat? I was told no, they just wanted me to know.
I am definitely not confident in Bennington any more after this. We have 3 years worth of emails back and forth with Action Water Sports about the numerous warranty issues we have had, and I am in the process of compiling and pdf printing all relevant info for my file.

This page is designed to share our difficult and disappointing story about buying a new Bennington pontoon boat here is Mesa, AZ. Their 10 year unlimited no hassle warranty was why we purchased it over the Sun Tracker. We have had many problems with it, and now when it comes to a major warranty issue, Bennington is telling us we haven't taken care of the boat, and they won't warranty it. Not true. Is that consumer fraud?
