Sometimes we really have to get creative!

Pictured is a chrome motor cycle exhaust. We have only been asked to repair a handful of these. The metal is pretty thick albeit somewhat soft once it’s heated up quite a bit. Luckily a 2X4 fit inside of this particular pipe which was used for a fulcrum point for the PDR rod I used to work the damage out. The client ended up having a motor cycle lift that already had a heavy piece of equipment on it allowing me to strap the exhaust down on a foam rubber floor mat on the aft of the lift. We had to strap it down with some heavy duty load straps and had to place more weight on the front of the lift. The pry pressure was so much that I kept lifting the front of the motorcycle lift right off the floor. The lift walked itself about a foot forward by the time I was done pushing on this pipe.

I accepted the challenge after I had already fixed his door ding. What I realized was the door ding in his truck was the bait to get me out there. Later on I was told that he had emailed weeks ago about the exhaust pipe and not the truck. I didn’t find that out until after I had talked to Bryce about this repair. My point here is that when you’re doing mobile repairs you need to be able to formulate a solution for a situation. Sometimes nothing is straightforward about a repair scenario.

This 2013 Ta**us was totaled by the owner’s insurance company over this damage. The owner took it to a few shops that all said it needed a new Quarter panel. Replacing the quarter exceeded the value of the car. The car has lower miles and is in amazing shape. We were able to repair the quarter panel and save it. It will go next door for paint , then the owner is going to have it inspected by the state so it can be registered again. PDR and sheet metal tooling has come a long way since the industry came into existence. With the proper tools and training we are able to save panels that most other PDR companies will likely turn down as they don’t fall into the scopes of their abilities.

This is what well water stains look like when being removed. This vehicle had a complete decontamination, clay bar, and a two stage polish to remove all the well water stains. We then removed 8 dings/dents around the whole vehicle. Back to looking almost new again.
