A couple of thoughts regarding the election Tuesday.
1) Your vote is NOT your identity, nor is your neighbor’s vote her identity. We are all complex individuals with different backgrounds and perspectives. You are a lot more than just who you vote for. We all are. Give grace.
2) This election will be the most secure in US history, but it will also likely take a while to resolve. Be patient and resist the impulse to jump in and share information on social media, or through emails and other means. There may be a lot of misinformation flowing and I for one don’t want to be one who makes matters worse by sharing something that turns out to be false.
3) Whoever ultimately wins, the world will NOT come to an end on Wednesday, or the following week, or year. Remember, someone you preferred as a candidate has probably lost in the past. Mine has for sure. But you are still here. You may have more work to do to make the world a better place, but the world will keep going.
4) If you are Christian, remember our default position is PEACE. Christ is our Prince of Peace, and His kingdom is a peaceable kingdom. We are people called out to promote peace and justice and love, as the prophets tell us. (And by the way, almost all other faith traditions teach these values as well)
Vote how you see fit. Respect and love your neighbor and live peaceably no matter how he votes. And do not fear!!! We are not fearful people.
Blessings, Chris B
