Seeing your temperature gauge climb can be stressful, but knowing what to do if it does can help prevent serious engine damage.
If your engine starts overheating:
• Pull over somewhere safe as soon as possible.
• Turn off the air conditioner.
• If it's safe to do so, turn the heater on to help draw heat away from the engine.
• Turn the engine off if the temperature continues to rise.
• Never remove the radiator cap while the engine is hot.
