EXTREME COLD TEMPERATURE WARNING
Extremely cold weather is expected in our area over the next couple of days. Because manufactured homes are more susceptible to freezing, we need everyone to take immediate steps to prevent frozen pipes and ensure safety:
• 💧 Protect Your Pipes (CRITICAL):
o Turn Up Your Thermostat a few degrees and Open Cabinet Doors: Open kitchen and bathroom cabinet doors to allow warm air to reach plumbing under the sinks.
o Drafts: Use towels to block drafts around windows and doors.
o Skirting: Check that your skirting is secure and closed to prevent cold air from the underbelly. If you have vents in your skirting, close them.
o Heat Tape: Verifying your electric heat tape on water lines is plugged in and functioning.
o Drip Faucets: We do not suggest, however some let both hot and cold faucets drip slightly, especially at night. This has been known to help prevent freeze up, however, keep in mind this may also cause your sewer to freeze, slow dripping water does not run through lines quickly enough and may build up and can cause ice blocks to form in the sewer lines.
• 🔥 Safe Heating:
o Do NOT use your oven, stove, or a generator to heat your home.
o Keep Space Heaters at least 3 feet away from curtains, furniture, or beds. Never leave space heaters unattended.
o Test Carbon Monoxide detectors. Never run a generator or grill inside or near windows.
• 🏠 Maintain Temperature:
o Keep your thermostat set to a minimum of 67°F to prevent pipes in the walls from freezing.
• 🚑 Emergency Information:
o Keep your cell phone charged at all times.
o If you lose power or heat, contact the after-hours number or local authorities immediately.
o Locate your main water shut-off valve now in case a water pipe burst.
• Pets:
o DO NOT leave Pets outside for longer than a few minutes at a time and never leave a pet outside unattended.
During snow and icy conditions, for your safety and the safety of emergency responders, we strongly advise all residents to stay off the roads unless travel is absolutely necessary. We encourage everyone to remain indoors, monitor local weather updates, and check on family and neighbors who may need assistance.
