🚛 This one means a little more to me.

This is a Ford F-600 with a Knapheide crane body, and it was the official first truck built at Knapheide’s new location in Olive Branch, MS, after Knapheide purchased my uncle’s business.

And for me, that makes this one pretty special.

The building that Knapheide is now operating out of was my uncle’s shop — Aerial Truck Equipment.

I’ve been around this industry since I was born.

Aerial Truck Equipment built hundreds of bucket trucks over the years, and I grew up running around playing in that building right there.

I played there.
I got dirty there. 😂
I watched my family work.
I watched trucks come in and leave looking completely different.

I even got to be the “tester” of a few bucket trucks.

Back then, I obviously had no idea how much of an impact that environment would have on me.

Now, years later, I’m on the sales side of the industry, helping businesses find the right truck, the right chassis, and the right upfit for the job.

So seeing this truck — the first one officially built under Knapheide in the same building I grew up in — is a pretty cool full-circle moment.

From being raised around work trucks to making a career out of them.

I guess trucks have always been a part of my story. ❤️🚛

🚛 Commercial Truck Tip:
Towing Capacity ≠ Payload

One of the biggest misconceptions I hear:

“If my truck can tow 15,000 lbs, I can put a 15,000-lb trailer behind it.”

Not necessarily.

There’s more to properly spec’ing a truck for towing than just the trailer weight.

You need to consider:

🔹 GCWR — Gross Combined Weight Rating
🔹 GVWR — Gross Vehicle Weight Rating
🔹 Payload & tongue weight
🔹 Trailer + cargo weight
🔹 Axle ratings & hitch equipment
🔹 Passengers, tools & additional equipment

And remember — the trailer’s weight isn’t the only thing the truck is carrying.

That’s why I always want to know what you’re towing, how much it will weigh loaded, and what else the truck will be carrying.

The goal isn’t to buy the biggest truck. It’s to spec the right truck for the job. 🚛

🚛 Fleet Managers & Business Owners — I Want Your Honest Opinion.

If you’re buying commercial or fleet vehicles, what do you look for in the person you’re buying from?

Is it:

🔹 Knowledge — they actually understand trucks and your business
🔹 Responsiveness — they get back to you when you need them
🔹 Honesty — no games, no surprises
🔹 Price — getting a competitive deal matters
🔹 Problem solving — they find a way to get it done
🔹 Communication — keeping you informed throughout the process
🔹 Follow-through — they don’t disappear after the sale
🔹 Relationships — having someone you know and trust when it’s time for the next truck

Or is it something completely different?

What makes you say, “Yep. This is the person I want handling my trucks”?

I genuinely want to hear it.

I’m always looking for ways to get better at what I do, and who better to ask than the people actually buying the trucks?

So give me the real answer — not the polite one. 😂

👇🏼 What do you look for in the person you buy your commercial/fleet vehicles from?

🚛 Commercial Truck Tip: The Truck Is Only Half the Equation

You can have the perfect truck… and still end up with the wrong setup.

That’s because when it comes to commercial trucks, the upfit matters just as much as the truck itself.

A plumber, electrician, landscaper, contractor, and delivery company can all need a completely different setup — even if they start with the same chassis.

Service body.
Flatbed.
Dump body.
Van body.
Stake body.
Crane.
Liftgate.
The list goes on.

And here’s the part people don’t always think about:

The upfit adds weight.

Which means we have to think about payload, GVWR, wheelbase, axle ratings, and how the truck is actually going to be used before we put everything together.

That’s why I don’t believe in just saying, “Here’s the truck. What do you want to put on it?”

I want to know what you’re doing with it first.

Then we build from there.

Because the goal isn’t just to put a body on a truck.

The goal is to build a truck that works. 💪🏼🚛

Commercial Truck Tip 🚛:
GVWR vs. Payload — what’s the difference?

I get questions about this all the time, so let’s make it simple.

GVWR = Gross Vehicle Weight Rating.

That’s the maximum total weight the truck is designed to safely carry — including the truck itself, passengers, fuel, equipment, cargo, and anything else you put in or on it.

Payload = how much weight you can actually put in/on the truck.

And here’s where it gets important…

If you’re adding a service body, flatbed, dump body, liftgate, tools, equipment, or other upfit, that upfit uses part of your available payload.

So you can’t just look at the truck and say, “It’s a 1-ton, so I can haul X amount.”

There’s a LOT more that goes into properly spec’ing a commercial truck.

That’s why I always want to know:

🔹 What are you hauling?
🔹 How much does it weigh?
🔹 What body/upfit are you adding?
🔹 How many people will be in the truck?
🔹 What will the truck be doing every day?

The goal isn’t just to sell you a truck. It’s to make sure we spec the right truck for the job.

If you’re not sure what you need, that’s okay.

That’s what I’m here for. 🤝🚛

I’m not just selling trucks.

I’m selling something that, for a lot of people, is directly connected to their livelihood.

That’s something I don’t take lightly.

When a contractor, business owner, or fleet manager calls me, they’re not just shopping for another vehicle.

That truck may be how they get to the job.
How they haul their equipment.
How they serve their customers.
How they get paid.
How they keep their business moving.

For some people, that truck is their livelihood.

That’s why I want to understand what you do before I ever try to sell you a truck.

What are you hauling?
What kind of work are you doing?
What does the truck need to accomplish every day?

Because getting the right truck isn’t just about having a truck.

It’s about having a truck that can help you do your job, serve your customers, and make a living.

That matters to me.

I’m building relationships, not just chasing sales.

And I’m grateful for every opportunity to help someone keep their business moving. ❤️🚛

A little more personal today. ❤️

Starting over is uncomfortable.

New dealership. **MHC**
New customers.
New relationships.
New territory.
And a whole lot of learning along the way.

But there’s something that makes this chapter feel pretty special to me.

This is what my family has done.

My grandfather, my uncle, my cousin, and my dad have all been a part of this business — whether that was on the upfitter side, the truck side, or the selling side.

So I guess you could say trucks have always been a part of my life. 😂🚛

Over the years, I’ve learned that I genuinely love this business.

I love learning the ins and outs of trucks. I love meeting business owners and hearing about what they do. And I really enjoy figuring out how to put the right truck together for someone’s business.

I’m not trying to be the person who sells the most trucks just for the sake of saying I sold the most trucks.

I want to build relationships, earn trust, be able to ask how the family is doing, and become the person you think of when you need a work truck.

So if you see me posting, sharing trucks, talking about commercial vehicles, or occasionally nerding out over truck specs… 😂

That’s why.

I’m building something of my own while carrying a little bit of what my family has built before me.

And I’m just getting started. ❤️🚛

Your business is unique. Your work truck should be too. 🚛

Not every business needs the same truck.

A service body.
A stake body.
A dump body.
A van body.
A flatbed.
Or something completely custom.

That’s one of my favorite parts of commercial truck sales — figuring out what your business actually needs and helping put the right truck and upfit together.

You tell me what you do.

I’ll help you figure out what you need to get the job done.

Let’s build something that works as hard as you do. 💪🏼

Before you buy a work truck, I want to know 3 things. 🚛

1️⃣ What does the truck need to do?
2️⃣ What are you carrying or hauling?
3️⃣ How are you planning to use it every day?

That might sound simple, but those three answers can completely change what truck makes sense.

A truck that’s perfect for a plumber may not be the right truck for a landscaper.
A truck that works great for one contractor may be completely wrong for another.

There’s no “one truck fits all” when it comes to commercial work trucks.

My job is to ask the right questions first — then help you find the right truck, chassis, cab, wheelbase, and upfit for the job.

If you’re thinking about adding a work truck to your business, send me what you’re trying to accomplish. I’d love the opportunity to help.
