Come & join mid-south regional automotive enthusiasts as they proudly display their favorite cars. On the Edge: Cars & Coffee occurs on the 2nd Saturday of each month, 8am - Noon. Meet other marque enthusiasts, be it Chevy, Ford,
Dodge, Porsche, Ferrari & others, as we share our stories of automotive acquisition, restoration, repairs & tales of past automotive glory. Monroe Avenue was the 1st Auto
motive Row in Memphis, TN, where all marques opened their first dealerships. While Ford & Chevy were at or near Monroe Ave and either Front Street or Main Street, the rest of Monroe Ave represented Desoto, Chrysler, Nash, Studebaker, Cadillac & others. The remainder of the street in the early 1900’s soon became occupied by body shops, upholstery shops & mechanical specialty shops. Businesses such as AS Martin Body Shop, longest running body shop in North America until closing 5 years ago, & Walker Radiator made names for themselves locally & nationally as well. Coleman-Taylor Transmission became a national player in transmissions for repair, replacement & racing applications, with Larry Coleman driving an early Funny Car to the first 200mph quarter-mile, as well as sponsoring NASCAR’s Alan Kulwiki in the 80’s. Upon arrival, please park your car in one of the rows in the parking lot across from High Cotton, right next to the old Kudzu’s Bar & Grill. At the pop-up tent near the street, you’ll find a hot cup of coffee, some donuts, & a sign-up sheet asking for e-mail addy’s – we will not e-mail you with anything other than event reminders – if you choose to provide. For additional information, be it sponsorship interest or cream for your coffee, please reach out to Billy at [email protected].
