ONR®: The Product That Changed Detailing

Before Optimum No Rinse, washing a vehicle usually meant a hose, a bucket, running water, and a traditional rinse.

ONR changed that.

Developed by Dr. David Ghodoussi, automotive paint chemist and founder of Optimum Polymer Technologies, ONR was designed specifically for automotive clear coat finishes using advanced polymer chemistry.

The goal was simple:

Create a safer, smarter, more efficient way to wash and detail vehicles.

With real-world feedback and testing from professional detailers, including Scott Hair — the first tester, early advocate, and educator for ONR — the product proved that a vehicle could be safely washed with just a few gallons of water, without a hose, without a traditional rinse, and without sacrificing results.

In 2006, Optimum introduced Optimum No Rinse Wash & Shine, the original automotive rinseless wash.

What made ONR different was the chemistry.
