Occasionally we get a bit of grief about how we choose to power up the modules, injectors and sensors with our standalone harness and fuse block.

Our standalone harness requires turning off the DTC P2510 for the ECM Powertrain Relay in every ECM tune. This is because we do not rely on the ECM to shut down the injectors and sensors. When 12 IGN is cut to our pink/black wire everything shuts down instantly.

At the end of the video the key was turned off and that's what stopped this runaway fueling situation from becoming something very bad.

When a customer is having an issue on their end, my very first response to any diagnostic question is sending this form.

It's not intended to be a blow off. It's so that I can "see" what's actually happening on their end. It's also the customer self-testing their wire harness after we've already tested it in process and as a final QC.

In this case the customer was experiencing a crank no start and replied to me with the form filled out and as you can see the RPM for cranking speed is way off. It should be 150 RPM cranking speed.

The customer then realized that they had transposed the cam and crank sensor connectors. Once those are swapped over the engine fired right up.

I forget who said it, but "trust the process" are words to live by. I've had to learn the hard way over the last three decades and am trying to pass on the knowledge.

I get a lot of people that want to just sit on the phone and have me start guessing at what their problems can be. It's a waste of both of our times because without data you're just another guy with an opinion. Once I have the data/facts I can actually make a good recommendation.

All black explorer completely unmarked and sitting in a parking spot off the road shooting laser got me this morning.

Hector Detector didn't even make a sound. The officer said he shot me with a Stalker laser at 177 feet away which would be a beam 6-8 inches in diameter on the front bumper.

I was actually doing 38 in a 40 but i genuinely missed the school zone sign.

He went easy on me and was a professional. He did not know I had a Detector until i asked a question about the gun he used until after he issued the ticket which is the first I've gotten in over 20 years.

We even talked about jammers and he said at this short distance even an active jammer broadcasting all of the time wont really help because his beam pattern is so small. He did say that a passive jammer is pointless because his beam is so small that unless he hits the unit directly it will never trip it to broadcast.

At longer distances his beam gets wider. At 600 feet the beam would be around 12 foot in DIA so detectors and jammers might work.

This is what happens when a HGTV watching DIY bonehead mounts cabinets using two tapcons at the bottom and two short drywall screws up top that DONT even hit the studs.

An unopened bottle of DON Julio 1942 still sealed in its box was a causality in this incident.

Buying tools should require a skills test.
