Before you can properly protect your paint…
you need to make sure there’s actually CLEAN paint underneath the protection.
And that’s where the CLAY BAR comes in.
Think about your vehicle’s clear coat somewhat like your skin.
It isn’t a perfectly impenetrable sheet of glass.
Over time, contaminants can embed themselves into the surface of your paint.
Brake dust.
Industrial fallout.

Except this stuff has a job.
When properly lubricated and used correctly, clay is designed to grab and remove bonded surface contaminants that ordinary washing may not remove.
Think of it as:
Washing removes what’s sitting ON your paint.
Clay helps remove what’s BONDED TO your paint.
And that distinction matters.
Because if you want to preserve that deep gloss,
smooth finish, and WOW FACTOR…
decontamination isn't a luxury.
It's maintenance.
For many daily-driven vehicles, a clay/decontamination treatment may be appropriate roughly every 4–6 months—but there isn't a universal calendar.
Your environment determines a lot.

Park near a railroad?

Go to your local auto-parts store.
Pick up a quality clay bar or a reputable clay mitt—soft to medium grade depending on the situation.
Find a good instructional video.
Learn the process.
Use proper lubrication.
Work carefully.
Because understanding how to maintain your vehicle is more valuable than simply paying someone to maintain it.
