Lets talk about noisy front rotors. The customer had a loose noisy front right rotor. He had taken to the HD dealer and a local shop. Neither could tell him why the springs wouldn't stay in the assembly. Dealer em told gim we get that a lot, but no solution.
Look at this crazy setup, so the rotor can float on 4 small tabs. The tabs had worn away and its way looser than it looks like it would be .
We replaced both rotors, new bushings and springs and correct torque going back together.
No more clang and the customer is happy.

Here we go. So the motor company releases another bike to dispoint us. The they have the nerve ti call it an FXD super glide, with throwback paint. We are an old school shop and remember the suoer glide was a FXE then later a Dyna. I own both and let me tell you they are great bikes. This new bike is a Softail, not a Dyna. Im not knocking the Softails, i have 2, and i enjoy them. But dont p**s down my back and tell me its raining. That thing is not a super glide and its nothing new. If the motor company wanted it impress us gray beards, release it as an actual Dyna. That would be a special bike and an actual collection bike. C'mon you can do better.

had a friend bring his bike in today. been complaining about a bad rattle on the front disc. it wont keep the springs on the bolt bushing.
dealer and a local shop have looked at it. Its sad they didnt bother to find the issue. ty je last shop ti work on it way overtightened to screws, calls for 24Ftlbs. i used my impact to break loose , plus the red locktight, they are not supposed to be reused, another story.
we have a new bolt, vushihg a spring kit. i notice something aint right, the bushing moves all over the hole and the spring has no place to seat. i take one bolt out of the other side. i find the not so round gole has 4 tabs that reach into the hole. they dont exist on the bad side. ao we have a rwaly loose fit and the spring gets in a place it doesnt belong and it breaks and falls out. so we ordered 2 new rotors for $100 and another bilt kit for $15.
i just wanna know how 2 shops missed the cause.

Ok, nothing usually goes as it should. The shocks I picked up are lowering shocks, so I can't do that. I do run a check on all my houses and connections. Well it wound up my shock pump wasn't sealing on the scrader valve.
Sometimes it's the simplest stupid things.
Most shops would throw the shocks on charge you parts and labor. I have a little bit of integrit, I'd tell the customer what I found. Give him the option on the repair. If he tells me to put it back, then it's $100 time and saved him $1000.

Fixing to throw some shocks on the Road Warrior. I picked up a set of NOS air shocks , my old ones lasted 105,000 my miles. I'm not a progressive shock fan. This is my travel bike, I want weight adjustment. I pull a trailer most trips along with my wife and her luggage.

Finally finished up the Lawnmower as it's known. Speedo change went well. Fixed issue with vent tube rubbing on tank. Repaired hole vent tube rubbed in tank.
Still had a leak. Pulled tank and bubble tested. Found a pinhole in a weld that held rear brakes on tank and clear pulled up. Fixed pinhole and took a good test ride. She is ready to tear up some pavement now. No grass!

How do you get your crap home? Trailer pretty much stays hooked to the ultra.

Bought the Speedo at a swap meet it's for a 96 and has a black benzel you can't change. All wired up and turned the key. Lights up needle bumps and the odometer shows all zeros on both accumulated and trip miles. What's the chance I got a NOS and didn't know it. Let's just hope it works once I get it going here about noon.

Fixing to get back onto my springer project. Bought it cheap and once it got home I know why. IMF cam bearing came apart. Sonic get to tear down the engine and hopefully it's a top end and camchest only. Been thinking what I want to do with it, put it back like it should be or do some custom work, ginl e me your opinion.
