This afternoon, State Police and Vernon Central Firemen were Dispatch for an accident on the Mercer Pike where a truck and trailer collided with a train. The trailer was struck by the train and drug down the tracks. The trailer was mangled by the train as it was pushed down the tracks. The hitch was tore off the truck which saved the truck being drug down also. We had to coordinate the recovery of the trailer with the railroad and with the help from the railroad they used their heavy equipment and assisted loading it. Traffic was detoured for several hours as the train was blocking the intersection and until the recovery was complete. A coordinated effort by all on scene.
