If you own a Chevy with a 5.3L or 6.2L and you're hearing that ticking noise…
Don’t rush into a big repair bill just yet. That ticking is almost always caused by the AFM (Active Fuel Management) lifters failing — a very common and well-known issue on these engines. Many shops will quote you thousands of dollars to replace lifters, cam, etc., but it often doesn’t solve the root problem long-term.
Get a second opinion first.
There are much better options than just throwing more money at the same AFM system that caused the failure in the first place.
Chevy now offers affordable crate engines with a 3-year / 100,000-mile warranty. These are a strong choice for many owners and can end up saving you money and headaches compared to repeated repairs.
I’m tired of seeing good people get worked over on these jobs. If your truck is ticking, feel free to reach out — happy to give you honest options (delete, repair, or new engine) so you can make the best decision for your situation.

Great school or first vehicle.
We have done several updates to make this vehicle ready for a new home. Updates inclue two new front tires, front brakes, ball joints, front and rear timing chain guides. Also, upper and lower oil pan reseale, front differential service, transfer case service, transmission service, and a fresh oil change. This vehicle is AWD for easier driving through snow.

Performing a transmission service on a 2017 Nissan pathfinder this morning. Nissan recommends every 60k for transmission service. This fluid was pretty dark, we recommend every 30K
Especially on the CVT transmission.

I'm seeing quiet a few people purchasing new/used vehicles. I had a customer that purchased a F-150 from a dealer in Omaha and sure enough after they drove it home, it cooled off, and had a knock/rattle on start up with some transmission issues also. F-150's with the 3.5L Ecoboost are notorious for Phaser issues after 75K+ miles(this is due to lack of maintenance). Sadly they do not throw a check engine light until it completely breaks.
Please get your vehicle inspected by a reputable mechanic shop before purchasing.
