*ATTENTION* Exciting News! In January of 2018, the Oregon Superbikers committee made progress in building a new website, and decided to re-brand the organization.

Oregon Superbikers will now be known as Oregon Lightweight Moto. What does this mean for our attendees? Basically, just a new name, and a new website. Fees, Registration and Tech have remained the same as last season with the exception of requiring certified SNELL/DOT/ECE/SFI 2010 or newer helmets at our events.

On our new website you will be able to view 2018 calendar dates, tech & safety gear requirements, and other helpful information.

I will be creating a Facebook group for Oregon Lightweight Moto (OLM) as well. This will serve as a community for attendees to share photos and experiences from OLM track days and events. It will also result in faster updates from OLM. You will now receive a Facebook notification when a staff member or attendee makes a discussion post.

All members of the Oregon Superbikers page will be sent invitations to the new Facebook group. If you don't receive an invitation, please let me know, or search on Facebook for Oregon Lightweight Moto.

Here is what you need to know in regards to our name change, and new website:

New Website:

New Facebook Group:

I appreciate your patience as we work through this transition. 2018 is going to be a great year for Oregon Lightweight Moto!

Oregon Lightweight Moto - Track Days at the Mac Track in McMinnville, Oregon

11/14/2017

*Attention Superbikers* This is your newly elected president, Sam Kaufmann. I look forward to serving the Oregon Superbikers community in the upcoming 2018 season. Nick will still be around, and is a valued member of the OSB committee.

I'm currently working on some new ideas for OSB. This includes additional track-side food vendors and a Facebook group for members to more easily share information, experiences, pictures, etc.

In an effort to increase public outreach, I will be putting together a handful of female-only practice days at the Mac Track -- Don't worry guys, there will be plenty of open practice days as well!

Please feel free to message me on the Oregon Superbikers page with any questions.

Cheers,
Sam Kaufmann

Our good friends at OMRRA have published their 2018 race schedule!

Savvy OSB riders could assume that OSB events will not conflict with these dates, so mark your calendars. Come out to OMRRA to race, volunteer, or spectate!

Hot off the presses! Beyond all the normal awesome race weekends, there will also be two combined rounds with WMRRA next season : June 9 - 10 @ the Ridge and July 21 - 22 at PIR.

**Attention Superbikers (and the bike-curious)** This Saturday (Oct 14) I suggest coming earlier than later, as we will be closing the track down around 4 PM due to a concert event happening in the adjacent grounds to the track at 4:30. Also, this means that parking will be restricted to the east side of the pit area (the part with grass near the tower). Ok, other than that, Happy Braaaaptoberfest!! -Nick

*****Attention Superbikers*****
Until further notice, these are the tech requirements for riding at OSB sanctioned practice days at Mac.

"Allowable Motorcycles by Cylinders and Displacement:
636cc 4 cylinder
675cc 3 cylinder
700cc Twin cylinder
Unlimited Single Cylinder

All vehicles on track must pass a tech inspection. The tech inspector reserves the right to deny access to the track if a vehicle does not meet the requirements. In general, all hard parts that could gouge the track should be protected with a slider made of a plastic material. Gas and an oil is harmful to the track surface and should be retained. All riders should exert their best effort to preserve our right to ride at Mac Track by properly preparing their motorcycle. If you are uncertain under which classification your motorcycle falls, please contact an OSB representative.

The following are required for all motorcycles (and scooters where applicable):
No fluid leaks of any kind
Tires in good condition
Throttle, clutch, and brake controls return at all bar positions
Drive chain in good condition, properly tensioned, and properly lubricated
Oil drain plug tight

Street: a factory street-legal motorcycle generally classified as a sport or standard. Common examples: Grom, Ninja 250, Ninja 300, Yamaha R3, KTM 390 Duke or RC390, Suzuki SV650, etc. Motorcycles classified as Street generally have full or partial fairings and OEM fluid retention systems.

The following are specifically required for a Street motorcycle:
Mirrors removed or taped over
May utilize glycol (green) coolant if and only if the factory coolant recovery system is entirely intact.

Supermoto: a dirt bike-style motorcycle for supermoto use, such as KTM 450 SMR, Yamaha YZ450F, Husqvarna FS450, etc. Or a factory street-legal supermoto-style motorcycle, such as Husqvarna 701, Yamaha WR250X, etc.

The following are specifically required for a Supermoto motorcycle:
No glycol (green) coolant in system (unless motorcycle is factory street legal). Water Wetter is the only acceptable cooling additive.
Radiator and carburetor overflow lines routed to a catch container
Peg sliders installed solidly
Front and rear axle sliders installed solidly

The following are recommended for Supermoto motorcycles::
Handlebar sliders or bark-busters
Safety wire oil drain plug

Mini-moto: a small displacement/small frame motorcycle. Common examples: XR100, DRZ125L, YZ85, NSR50, NSF100R, Kayo MR125. Mini-moto bikes are to be teched the same as their full size counterparts. (For example; if you have a YZ85 prepared with 12” wheels, it is subject to supermoto tech requirements. If you have a Kayo MR125 or a Honda NSF100R, it is subject to the tech rules for a street bike.)

Scooter: Also includes mopeds. Includes step-through style scooters, generally with centrifugal clutches and rear-mounted engines. Scooters should be prepared for track use in a workmanlike manner according to the requirements above.

Gear:
Guideline: Wear gear in which you feel comfortable sliding across pavement at 60+ mph, or sustaining a fall, or impact of a sliding motorcycle.

Requirements:
Full coverage - no bare skin showing
Full face or motocross style helmet (no half shells, brain buckets, etc)
Boots that cover the ankle
Gloves must cover hand fully

Recommended:
One or two-piece leather suit
Textile motorcycle apparel acceptable
Full-gauntlet gloves with dual closures
Spine protector, chest protector"

We've had some questions about whether the track will be open this weekend because of the weather forecast...

The short answer: Yes

The long answer: Yes

This will be a rain or shine practice weekend. If the forecast is accurate we should have some nice breaks from the rain throughout the weekend. The track in McMinnville dries quite quickly after rain stops, so I'm optimistic that we'll have plenty of time for some laps!

As a quick reminder:

-Peg sliders are required on all supermotos/converted dirt bikes.

-Catch cans must be in place for carburetor (if equipped) and coolant overflow

-If your bike is street legal from the factory (e.g: DRZ400SM, WR250X, Ninja 250, etc) you may run glycol coolant (the green stuff) as long as your factory coolant recovery system is in place. If your bike was not factory street legal or doesn't have a closed cooling system, it needs to have water in it (water wetter is ok)

-Your bike(s) need to be in good condition with good tires, good brakes, no leaks (I mean none) and nothing falling off.

Other than that, I look forward to seeing y'all tomorrow and Sunday!!!
