High 60° vent temperatures aren’t going to cut it in The RGV 🥵
This Jeep came in because the A/C wasn’t cooling like it should, so our team got to work finding out why. Using our PowerProbe TempKit, we confirmed the warm vent temperatures, then scanned the vehicle for any codes that might give us a starting point. With no codes present, we connected the A/C machine and found the system was undercharged by about 0.2 lbs.
We recharged the system to factory capacity, added leak detection dye, and checked the pressures. The A/C was now blowing in the high 30s, right where we wanted it. Unfortunately, we couldn’t find an active leak during the inspection, even with the UV light.
For now, we’ll keep an eye on it and have our customer return if the A/C stops cooling again. If the refrigerant level drops, we’ll have a better opportunity to pinpoint where the leak is coming from.
Sometimes diagnostics don’t give us an immediate answer, but that doesn’t mean we stop testing.
