Four Fires Meadery

Four Fires Meadery Toledo’s First Meadery! Creation Through Collaboration So, what’s in a name? So where did we get Four Fires? Well there are four of us, hence, Four Fires!

We derive our name from the original native tribes of northwest Ohio and the surrounding areas; the Chippewa, the Ottawa and the Potawatomi. In 796 AD the three tribes decided to work together and The Council of Three Fires (tribes) was created. Who are we, you ask? Keep reading to find out! Athreya Rajan: Resident corporate puppet and stickler for tradition. His style can be described as a drinka

ble Katy Perry song. His hobbies include staring at himself in the mirror and torturing people in his car by playing music no one likes. Christopher Clarke: The Wildcard, rarely can people keep a handle on him, and well known for transforming lesser sought ingredients into delectable wonders. Andrew "Sticky" Lynch: Glass Blower and Toledo native that likes to focus on meads so secret we don’t even know if he actually works here. But seriously have you seen him lately? Eh, never mind go read about someone else. Josh "Captain" Kirk: Civil engineer, musician, and resident ginger with a penchant for spice. When he’s not saving the nation’s infrastructure from the comfort of his corner cubicle, he can be found sneaking hot peppers into just about everything, including his eggs…who does that?

Oh boy has it been a minute since we've had a bottle release. But the gears are all finally moving again and the light at the end of the tunnel is bright!

Saturday August 8th regular release finally make a comeback

And to kick it off we are starting with a dual release of two incredible iterations of one of Chris's favorite meads. We have two batches of Black Currant Slow Jamz, covering a little of something for both sides of the spectrum.

Batch 5 showcases the drier side of things. Boasting aromas of Black Peppercorn and ripe Berries, this acidic, tannic cab-like treat hides nothing. Made from local Black Currants and Autumn Olive Honey, aged for 3 years.
$30 per 375ml bottle
100 bottles

Batch 6 brings it right back to that classic black ichor. Decadent, tart, jammy. Made with local Black Currants and dark Wildflower Honey, aged for 2 years
$30 per 375ml bottle
125 bottles

We are less than a week away from an trip we are thrilled to be headed back to, and grateful to be able to contribute to such a great charity and event!

Chris has some major knee surgery coming up, so he wont be playing this year, but he will be pouring our two current top selling hydromels!

You can grab some summer refreshment with Watermelon Dichro, or go with the ever reigning king Slappin Da Basil!

Special thanks to AJ Sendra!

We are lucky to have many businesses support us year after year.
This year, we are excited to have TWO meaderies on site for your tasting pleasure!

New Company Record!

Our most mead made in a single day, at 50bbls, just over 1500 gallons!

Getting 8 drums of honey in today, and emptying them all into tanks on the same day was a big endeavor, but at least now all the hard work is done!
(At least until bottling time😅)

Hello everyone! A couple points of notice for the weekend

First up, Brent is off this weekend as he enjoys his Birthday, so Chris will be running the bar this weekend. Because of that, today, Friday July 10th we will not be open until 5pm, but because of that, we will extend an hour on the back end and be open until 11pm. Tomorrow, Saturday the 11th will be normal hours.

tldr:
Friday 5pm-11pm
Saturday 4pm-10pm

Next up, here is the current taplist, but I expect a few things to change out relatively quick as there are a few kegs just about ready to blow. Strawberry Dichro, Blood Orange Dichro, and Tracksuit Vibes are all fresh kegs tapped this morning.

And last up, here is you're teaser warning for the first bottle release in FOREVER. As long as bottles come in on time, we are looking at July 25th for this double release!

Both batches feature locally grown Black Currants from The Sophia Quintero Cultural Center,as well as a an avid home grower, K. Baldoni

Black Currant Slow Jamz batch 5 -14% ABV - Off Dry
Black Currants and Wildflower Honey from NWOs Bee Inspector, Mike Horst! After primary fermentation was complete, this batch underwent a secondary, Malolactic Fermentation before bulk aging for 30 months. This is the first Dry version of a Slow Jamz that the public has gotten to see, making it a rare treat for our dry-drinkers

Estimated Bottle Count 110

Black Currant Slow Jamz batch 6 -14% ABV Sweet
And just like that, back to our regularly scheduled programming. This batch takes those local Currants again, but blends them with an ultra light colored honey from an apiary club in the Catawba Region. This honey take our classic Black Currant Slow Jamz, and showcases one of the cleanest executions yet. Bulk aged for 18 months
