⛈️ Cold, rain, bad fuel, and a dead battery. Kyle Turnis still finished on the Baja 1000 podium.

In 2025, he was taking on the race of his life in Ironman class, solo, no rider changes, and more than 850 miles of Baja ahead. Everything was going well until around race mile 707, at about 2:00 AM, when the bike stopped firing because of bad fuel. He tried so many times to restart it that he killed the battery and ended up stranded alone in the middle of the desert, surrounded by total silence.

His friends had to ride the spare bike out to him, drain the bad fuel, and swap in another battery. He got back on course, but the worst was still ahead, cold and rain over the final 100 miles. Hours later, he crossed the finish line in 3rd place. Of the 21 Ironman riders who entered, only six officially finished. Kyle was one of them. 🌵🏁
