Last night, Deputy Combs stopped to assist a motorist who was stranded with a flat tire. During the interaction, Deputy Combs learned the driver was transporting an urgent β€œSTAT” blood delivery from The Blood Connection in Raleigh to Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital.

Recognizing the time-sensitive nature of the delivery, Deputy Ashley stepped in to help and personally transported the blood the remainder of the way to Roanoke Memorial Hospital, ensuring it reached its destination without further delay.

What began as a routine roadside assist quickly became an opportunity to help ensure a critical delivery made it where it needed to go. We’re proud of our deputies for recognizing the importance of the situation and going the extra mile to help.
