Long post but posted with love! I hope you take a minute or 10 to read!!

The perspective of a track owner's wife:
The day we sat in that SxS looking at a horse pasture and he said to me… I want to build a R/C track here! My response was OK… thinking to myself this will be a great thing for him and the boys to do and spend time together, not really realizing the full consequences of my OK. We must have done thousands of laps on that SxS to map out the first layout. I must admit that was the funnest easiest part. It was just play and time spent to me but in his head it was so much more! He had so many visions of what was to come and I have to say unless they are your visions sometimes they are hard to see. He would often say this was for the boys so they would spend time with him and do something fun. However as we all know teenage boys aren’t very reliable when looking for time and work when it interfere’s with the things they wanna do. However he did manage to get some time and work days with them even if it was like pulling teeth . I think they played more of the Supervisor roll when they were up there but to my husband it didn’t matter as long as they were there! Little by little the track vision unveiled itself to those who couldn’t see it but him. He worked his daily job then right to the track for what was left of daylight 7 days a week. I could see the passion and want he was pouring into this adventure and it was all for love… the love of family and to me that is it! The biggest gift in life is your family and the love and time together you share! You only get so many years with your children before your not cool anymore and he was trying to be that again! To pull them back and the want to spend time with each other over a common interest. As time went he starting building the community of people he new from previous tracks and common interests of the R/C hobby. I believe it was in 2021 that people started coming up to see what he had built.. forgive me I feel like it’s been forever and can’t remember exact dates. It was a slow trickle of people but word of mouth brought others. Then comes more time more material and the problem of doing most everything by hand. The general did however let him use the heck out of the backhoe which was how most of the moving of ground and laying of material was accomplished. As people showed up and told him how amazing this place was it only lit more of a fire to be better. More was never enough, best and biggest was the goal! I watched and delt with MANY hard days because he didn’t have enough time or this wasn’t right or the boys were pi***ng him off because they were doing boy things and not helping with the track. Fast forward to starting to hold events and it was more time more pressure for perfection. This is when he started to get help with more track maintenance and some better ideas on how to do things. The community was forming and coming together to help make this track what it is today! He started renting equipment to help make things easier and move faster. This is where Malcom found his interest! He was a natural at running equipment and thought it should be his job lol. With that one little statement of wanting to make an R/C track he has built a FAMILY! One far bigger than we had before this came along. The kids would show up for events and hang out and Malcom usually always raced while Jacob did here and there. The girls helped me with the little things we could do but non the less they were here! And that WAS the ultimate goal behind the vision! The racing was fun and competitive at times but what really made the track was the fire pit and after race get togethers! This is where all the s**t talk and friendships happened. Not many wives came at first cause in reality what woman wants to hang out for this kind of stuff. But over time they saw me and my girls there every time and the wives started coming too. I have made many amazing friendships from this also! We started traveling and supporting other tracks all over! To me this was the best part as I was getting to travel and see new places! First was Arizona. We packed the Jeep shoved the 2 boys in the back, loaded the trailer and we were off! So many amazing memories made! Never in my life did I think this would be my life! And I have to tell you what an amazing life it has been! We only had both boys for Arizona but I wouldn’t trade those moments for anything! Malcom was the only one who made the next adventure. We were off to California! That adventure was not the greatest but the time together made it worth it! The next adventure was Las Vegas baby! That was just me and hubby!!!! Our very first ever alone trip (well minus Speedo) lol he is always with us like our big kid lol. This was our last trip before our whole lives changed. Even with this change Shawn still dedicates time and effort to keeping the track going and the best it could be! The ECN of 2024 was the hardest to handle with what we were battling. But Malcom said nope… let me in that skidsteer and work my magic! And he did nothing less… he worked hours on end in that piece of metal to design the best track layout for the coming race! He opened up more pit space anticipating more!! He was so damn proud of himself for what he made! And that’s just it right there…Shawn’s heart and vision came to a completion!! This was the moment Shawn worked so damn hard for! And in that time I believe Malcom felt what Shawn started out feeling!! It was at that race he could stand next to his dad and say I did it!!! It was at this race the news of Malcoms illness was known to people. This boy did all this work while receiving chemo and coming home with a treatment bag! That wasn’t stopping him from running that equipment!! He had the vision and he was making it a reality! The way the race family showed up and enjoyed every inch of that track must have made him feel like he was on top of the world. That was Malcoms last ever race season on this side but to the end he couldn’t wait for the next! The dream of this track started out for the love of family. Yearning for time spent with loved ones. It was accomplished! This is what my husband and all who have selfishly helped created. A place where families come together over a common hobby but the best part is when you are here EVERYONE is your family. It’s not your family or my family it’s just family.
To put some perspective on all the mumbo jumbo I just wrote…. I want each and every one of you to know how much it means that you come enjoy and help keep the vision alive! I really wouldn’t want it any other way ( even though I’m a widow most the time ). Without the help and dedication of everyone as a whole we would not be what we are.
P.S…. Malcom got to take one last trip to California to make up for the first that was less than anticipated. He got to go to Robinson’s Raceway and enjoy the beautiful sights of San Diego and stops in between! We left a piece of him there in the ocean to continue his world travels❤️. On an end note we will be welcoming 2 new and upcoming racers to the mix!! Our legacy to keep the vision alive💚💚
