Before crossovers became the biggest thing on the road, AMC was already trying something different. In 1980, the AMC Eagle combined a passenger-car body with Jeep-based four-wheel drive and extra ground clearance. It looked strange, but the idea worked. This was a family car built to handle real weather.

The Eagle was not chasing luxury or style. It was built for drivers who needed traction without giving up the comfort of a normal wagon. When snow covered the roads, that four-wheel-drive system gave the Eagle an advantage that many ordinary cars simply could not match.

Today, modern crossovers are everywhere, but the Eagle deserves its place in the story. AMC saw the formula early. It may have looked like an oddball back then, but history made that oddball look pretty smart.

Another one hit the yard and it’s getting put to work. This Blazer has a 4.3L V6 with 170K miles, and we already have 70+ parts inventoried and available.
