Don't blame the messenger!

Kentucky motor vehicle registration renewal notices have the County Clerk's name and address on them, but are mailed by a vendor for the Department of Revenue. The June renewal notices were mailed late after this vendor has once again failed in their responsibility.

Please note, you don't need to wait on the reminder notices. They are not required for you to renew. Failure to receive a notice does not absolve you of the obligation to pay your tax and registration by due date.

In the near future, drivers will be able to choose to have their notices either texted or emailed to them rather than receive the postcard in the mail. The system is not in place yet, but only those who opt in will receive all renewal notices digitally.

If this interests you, please be sure we have your current cell phone number or email address.

Crittenden County Schools has announced an expanded partnership with Pennyroyal Center for mental health school-based counseling services. The district has had a long-standing association with Pennyroyal and is excited to enhance services with the addition of two new school-based mental health providers at the start of the 2026-2027 school year. The close of the school year ended the district’s current contract with Mountain Comprehensive Care Services at the middle and high schools. Mountain Comprehensive Care services will continue to be provided at the elementary school. Pennyroyal Care services are available at all three schools.

Superintendent Tonya Driver assures families that access to mental health counseling for their students is readily available and that the district is working closely to ensure a seamless transition for any families interested in obtaining Pennyroyal counseling services for their child.

“SAFETY is one of our core values in Crittenden County Schools, and that includes a child’s mental well-being, as well as his or her physical well-being,” said Driver. “Partnering with the Pennyroyal Center enables us to offer expanded school-based services, addressing a wider range of needs, to our families. Pennyroyal’s mental health providers are part of a greater therapeutic network fully equipped to offer families the best in care for their students.”

Families who would like therapy services for their child over the summer break should contact Central Office at 270.965.3525 to obtain a referral form, or call Pennyroyal directly at 1-877-473-7766. Families who would like for school-based counseling to resume with the new school year, should contact his or her student’s guidance counselor at the start of the school year in August.

Band kids… it’s time for a reunion!

As part of Legacy of Liberty: 250th Anniversary Celebration, we’re working to assemble a Community Band under the direction of Crittenden County Schools Band Director Isaac Carter, and we want musicians from across the area to be part of it.

Whether you still play every week or haven’t opened your instrument case in years, this is your invitation.

The Community Band will perform during Legacy of Liberty on June 26–27, 2026 in Marion, Kentucky, as part of this once-in-a-generation America250 celebration.

This opportunity is open to musicians of all ages and is not limited to Crittenden County residents, so tag your former bandmates, share this post, and help us spread the word.

Interest numbers will help determine whether we are able to successfully assemble the band, so if you’d like to participate, sign up today.
