A perfect example of why you need to be careful who you trust with your vehicle, especially when it comes to custom fabrication.
This customer traveled from Waterloo to Cedar Rapids to have the exhaust completed on his Chevy Cruze, a project he's been working his butt off on to get running for him and his family to enjoy. Unfortunately, he ended up at a shop that clearly wasn't prepared to deliver the quality of work he was paying for.
After 9 WEEKS of being told they were waiting on more "stainless" to show up, this was the finished product.
Parts-store elbows, hardware-store brackets, a little bit of everything when it came to the welding, warped V-bands, crooked mufflers, broken welds, and joints that weren't even fully welded. The muffler was slammed so tightly against the gas tank that the V-band connecting it to the mid-pipe couldn't even be tightened properly.
Nine weeks of waiting for a job that ultimately had to be cut apart and redone.
The customer reached out to me, explained the situation, and I got him in to get it taken care of. We cut everything out, salvaged the old mufflers as best we could, and started fresh.
The result? A complete 2.5" TIG-welded, back-purged, 304 stainless steel exhaust, properly fabricated and fitted the way it should have been from day one.
When you're spending your hard-earned money on your vehicle, take the time to find someone who specializes in what you need done. Whether it's exhaust fabrication, engine work, suspension, tuning, or anything else, find a shop that knows its trade and takes pride in the finished product.
At the end of the day, saving a couple hundred dollars doesn't mean much if you end up paying someone else to cut the entire job apart and do it all over again.
Do your research, ask questions, look at previous work, and make sure you're taking your vehicle to the right people.
We'll let the pictures and videos do the rest. 👊
