We work quick here at Brookside, already conforming to the DEMANDS of our Code Enforcement Officer!

We’re pretty sure our new “sign/truck for sale” meets all the codes. Here are photos of both the old and new OPEN signs—let us and your Village officials know which one you think looks best!

And folks, don’t be disappointed—there are a few more Village-approved OPEN signs coming!!

We’re also thinking about selling that truck with a bed full of garbage bags. We figure that should really improve the overall appearance, too!

To our valued customers:

As we strive to fix up and beautify our lot at Brookside Hardware, we continue to run into stumbling blocks as we go. Please see the email we received today, not to mention this email was sent to the wrong business. Genius’s……
Brookside Hardware is a complete different business from the entity. This was sent to. Anyway below please find the email we received today from the village of Margaretville.

We are currently waiting for a local business man to finish hand carving two beautiful eagles we are adding to the top of our beautifully remodeled sign. We have attached a photo below of what the sign will look like when it is complete.

Beautiful sign isn’t it?

According to this letter this will not be allowed, What a shame, how dare we try to beautify our Route 28 corridor.
Also in violation is an open flag, Specially a red white and blue open flag, a tiny open sandwich board sign and our inflatable guy we have nicknamed “Kevin”.

All three of these of these are only out during day time business hours and taken in when our store closes. These signs are no different then most of the opens signs in and around the village. We are not going to mention any specifically as we don’t want to bring drama to anyone else.
We have added the open flag + the sandwich board sign to let people know that we are now open on Sundays. Maybe the village will approve them for one day a week??

We are asking for our valued customers to excuse our appearance as we change up things to appease the village and still let our customers know we are open.

Lastly the last line of the letter seems very rude but maybe we’re just taking it the wrong way. However our answer is be careful what you ask for….
