Day 2 of Octane Autofest 2.0 day 2

Jesse - RSTI
-Jesse started TTS (triple track showdown) with Autocross in the morning. Finished first in class (Street Unlimited) out of 10 and 6th overall out of 120 racers. Followed by drag where the RSTI ran a 10.1 at 144mph with street tires and 4 degrees of camber (bad 60 foot of 1.70). Which finished first overall. Out of 2 events Jesse is first in both.

Jesse hopes to beat his PB and get the fastest road course time of the weekend. But find out tomorrow!

Derek - Evo 8/9
-Derek got 6th out of 24 in class for autocross and 25th overall out of 120 racers. Derek is hoping for 1st in class for the road course and a new PB tomorrow!

Jay - 20 STI
-Jay got 7th in class out of 10 in Autocross still learning the new power setup. In drag racing he ran a 10.4 at 143 mph! Jay will continue his new journey on this setup with the road course tomorrow!

Aidan - 24 WRX
-Aidan finished in 3rd out of 4th in his class for TTS SS. Overall 47th out of 120 in autocross. Aidan is known for Co-owning and driving the Moobaru rally car! He is continuing to improve with this car and these events tomorrow while being on the road course!

Devin - 06 WRX
-Devin finished 8th out of 24 in autocross in SU and 33rd overall out of 120 racers. With his stock STI turbo and setup that hasn’t changed for years he continues to be very competitive at these events.

Paul - Co drove 24 WRX
-Paul got 12th overall in class out of 35 in autocross.

Matt - Evo X
-Matt got 7th out of 24 races just behind Derek in the SU class of autocross! More consistency from the JM team!

DIT Subaru owners: Your intake valves are going to get dirty

Unlike port-injected engines, direct-injection fuel doesn’t wash over the back of the intake valves. Over time, carbon deposits build up, and that’s where walnut blasting comes in.

Ever had a boost leak that wasn’t actually a boost leak? 👀

This turbo inlet hose was collapsing under boost, restricting airflow and killing performance. We swapped it out for a quality, reputable replacement and got this Subaru breathing properly again. 💨

This STI came to make some power… and it definitely delivered. 😮‍💨

This 2019 STI made 525HP on E85 with a Blouch DOM 2.5, Killer B header, PLM EWG uppipe, ETS intake & FMIC, GSC cams and valvetrain, ID1750x injectors, DW 430lph pump, and PTR flex fuel kit.

We tuned it on flex fuel + Speed Density via open source, running 22psi on 91 and 26psi on E85.

From pump gas to ethanol, this thing is ready to make power wherever you fill up. 🔥

E85 or pump gas? ⛽️ What should you tune for?

Devin’s answer: whatever fuel is readily available to you.

But if E85 is easy to find, it can be a big advantage. We typically see 40–60hp more than pump gas. 🔥

Just know that E85 usually means adding a flex fuel kit and, in most cases, larger injectors.

Here is our official podium qualifying lap that was run in heat 5 with a 57.488

Jesse did not expect this to be the fast lap as the car was still warming up (as you can see with how relaxed the entry to turn 1 was taken) We were actually .5 slower in the first half from our previous fastest lap and planning to go all out the 2nd lap.

But we were able to gain about 1.4 seconds in the back half!

Knowing this was all that was needed he did not do another lap and got off and started celebrating.

Dai had a major failure that morning.
