The 65 Squire is one of the few Falcons that I have seen that does not have, and never did have, a radiator support to hood seal.

I do not know how this got decided. My understanding is that V8 wagons and Rancheros were all made in Lorain.

I just banned another person for wanting to buy one of my cars.

I do not sell cars on this page.

Don't ask.

WARNING!!!!!!!!

Controversial subject matter.

Viewer discretion advised.

This is the reason that I do not agree with extreme coil cutting.
On the left is the coil that I took off of the Red Rocket. On the right is the coil that I put back on the Red Rocket (came off of the blue 64 wagon).

As you can see, when the front suspension has no load, the outer portion of the coil is not touching the perch. Only a small section of the free end of the coil is seated solidly.

The large gap is with the shock removed. As the shock acts as the lower stop, this gap is exaggerated. But even with the shock in place, limiting the drop in the suspension, the outer portion of the coil is just hanging out there.

Now when there is any significant weight on the front suspension, this might not be the case. And you can see the outline of the rubber pad on the coil. But what happens if you go over a whoop-de-do, maybe even get a little air? That coil could dislodge.

You will have a hard time convincing me that this is OK. See less

The 65 Squire arrived today.

The car is dirty from the road, but I cleaned off a place on the fender. The paint looks to be pretty nice. Not show, but much better than driver. The wood has been redone and is nice. So spare "wood" is rolled up in the back.

It was almost on empty, so I put in a gallon of gas and some Sta-Bil. I also hooked up the trickle charger.

The car seems to run good. Too loud mufflers for my taste. This is a PS car along with the AC.

Rear lowering blocks are off.

05/31/2026

I flushed the rear brake lines on the Red Rocket today.
I also managed to get the left rear lowering block off. The axle tube to axle fl**ge welds were sloppy and the u-bolt did not want to locate at the proper alignment. 1-1/2 hours of hand filing/fitting/hand filing/etc. and I got everything lines up.

Shirt was soaked with sweat, so I called it a day.
