As the weather gets colder, shelters can use clean, usable bedding to help animals stay warm and comfortable. Something you no longer need at home could make a real difference to an animal waiting for a loving family.

Just check with the shelter first, as some accept towels and blankets while others have restrictions on the materials they can use.

What feels like an old household item to you could become a little extra comfort for an animal in need. ❤️

✨ REMEMBER WHEN SUMMER NIGHTS LOOKED LIKE THIS? 🌙

Before every yard was lit up by bright LEDs, before evenings were spent staring at screens, there was a little kind of magic that appeared just after sunset.

Fireflies.

Tiny golden lights floating over the grass, blinking between the trees, turning an ordinary backyard into something out of a fairy tale. ✨

But those little lanterns need more than a warm summer night. Their larvae live on or in moist ground and leaf litter, and many species depend on suitable habitat to complete their life cycle. Bright artificial lighting can also interfere with their nighttime signals.

💛 Turn off unnecessary outdoor lights at night.
🌱 Leave a quiet corner of your yard with native plants and leaf litter.
🚫 Avoid unnecessary pesticides.
