Looking to replace your vehicle? This might not be the best time. Since March of 2020, used car prices are up nearly 40%, and new cars are 10% more costly now than they were a year ago. For some of us, that means this is not the time to replace or upgrade our rides.

Fortunately, it’s always a good time to protect our investments. Several excellent mechanics and technicians in our area provide services like oil and filter changes, tire mounting and balancing, brake checks and replacement, and general repairs—all at competitive rates. Anybody else noticed that customer service just isn't what it used to be? Even businesses with good reputations occasionally disappoint a customer. And some businesses seem to make a habit of doing so!

We at VanMeter's Auto aren't immune. We've had our share of negative customer service experiences, and each one reminds us that we want to avoid frustrating our customers the way we've been frustrated.

So we want to remind our customers that we appreciate you and want to make sure you are satisfied with the work we do. We commit to resolving any issues with honest, humble communication. And when the job gets tough--and some jobs will--you can count on us to inform you in a clear and timely fashion.

Let's revive civility and service. And let's all be careful out there!

Post-holiday season can be a downer for some. Maybe you ate too much or spent too much or didn't get to rest enough. Whatever the case, your vehicle has likely been put to the test as well, especially in very cold conditions.

A January humbug may tempt you to skip out on vehicle maintenance to save a few dollars, but that could cost you more in the long run. Check fluids (such as oil and antifreeze), tires, and wiper blades this winter. And remember to keep things like blankets, snacks, water, and chargers on hand just in case you get stranded in the cold.

Happy 2014. Be careful out there.
