Let's be honest: Dealing with people is easily one of the most complex, demanding, and unavoidable parts of being alive especially the last 10 years and it will absolutely make or break your business.
You can't opt out of it. You can't outsource it.
You want to know how l've managed to stay in the game and run my own business for as long as I have? Especially as a woman in this space?
It's not just because I'm good at what I do technically. It's because I learned how to navigate the full, messy range of human behavior without letting it burn my business down.
Over the years, I've had to handle the exact same lineup you see everywhere:
• The difficult colleague.
• The completely unreasonable client.
• The family member who didn't get what I was building and complained I was never home and low key judged it.
And let's talk about the big one I see wrecking other companies: the boss or manager operating straight out of insecurity. I see so many businesses lose incredible talent because they have leaders who lack confidence and let their ego drive the ship.
Luckily, I don't have to deal with that in my own backyard but I see the damage it does out there every single day.
Surviving and thriving in business requires a hell of a lot more than professional competence. It takes emotional intelligence, tactical communication, and enough self-awareness to keep your own bu****it from making a tough situation worse.
l've lasted as a business owner because I invested in my people skills with the exact same seriousness I invested in my actual craft.
Anything worth building requires you to communicate, handle conflict, and bring people along with you. How well you do that is the exact ceiling on how far your business is actually going to go.
I've been doing this a long time, and l've seen it all.
Keeping it real Outlaws, 🐺
