This is a vintage Sears Free Spirit front-wheel friction drive motor kit, manufactured for Sears in Japan by Tanaka (TAS) during the mid-to-late 1970s. It uses the same two-stroke engine block as the famous "Bike Bug" or "TAS Spitz" motors.
​How it Works: The engine is mounted directly over the front tire. Engaging the lever drops a textured rubber roller down onto the tread, using friction to propel the front wheel. It runs on a gas/oil pre-mix and pushes out around 0.8 horsepower. The bike is a vintage as Murray bike...Has not been ran for a bit..Will need fresh gas..Great vintage conversation piece.. Awesome patina in bike...The sears free spirit unit is in awesome shape..Won't take much to get running & enjoy or just put away as a collectible either way this bike is awesome and will be alot of fun or a speculator games
