rebirth begins. The damage from the wheel debris also caused some damage to the incredible wrap job that Supra Motive 🌺 Shay put on the car before I moved to AZ. Sadly that means it is time for the next chapter. This wrap meant so much to me as it closed a chapter and started a new one. I am sad to see it go but I am also excited to bring back her brilliant Rallye Red origins and draw upon the theme of “The Phoenix” born again from the ashes of the past…….. no coincidence to where I live now… 🤷🏾‍♂️

My family and I are excited to re-reveal her original color after we remove the green piece be piece as we await new upgraded parts that will surely solve the overheating issues I have faced while also readying it for additional power.

For now a replacement lower engine cover, under tray, intercooler, intercooler piping, ac condenser, radiator, lower radiator core support, fender liners, brake ducts, bumper,lip, and under panels are all en route to rebuild again. She’ll stay tucked away while we make progress bringing her back.

Phoenix Doesn’t Fear the Ashes. It Rises From Them….

makes you earn every bit of joy she gives.

Yesterday was her first track test since December 2024 after a full suite of cooling upgrades—and more importantly, she was the car my 16-year-old daughter Caitlin chose for her first track day.

She only started driving in July. A week before I left for Japan, I challenged her to become proficient enough with the FK8 to drive it at her first event with Canyon Run Sundays | CRS Track Events at Chuckwalla Valley Raceway . She accomplished that goal, got through her sessions, did GREAT, and more importantly… she’s HOOKED!!!

The car still fought cooling issues, so my sessions became a test of managing temps while finding whatever pace I could. In the hottest conditions—98 degrees—I managed 14 laps over 30 minutes with temps only climbing halfway. Progress. I was happy.

And then…

7 PM. Pitch black…. I-10 East. 80 miles from home.

A tire appeared in the road. Swerved. Dodged it.

Then BAM!!!

A large chunk of broken wheel debris went straight under the center of the car unavoidable.

Intercooler, radiator, lower core support, bumper, lip, lower engine cover and essentially the entire underbody were ripped apart or damaged.

But she did what mattered most. She kept Caitlin safe on track, and she kept me safe on the road. That’s all I can ask of her.

And like every Phoenix, will rise from the ashes—stronger, fiercer, and better than ever. 🔥

I’d never eaten wagyu before this trip. I’ve eaten so much now that I don’t know that US beef will ever be the same. We went to Lawrence Jr favorite Yakiniku place in Shibuya. Not quite as good as Osaka but still very good.

I can say I finally caught my final Pokémon. Seeing Maou s2000 in person is a must. It’s so beautiful and aggressive and looks every bit of the insane machine that it appears in videos.

Getting to meet Murakami-San and being personally shown around J’s Racing was on another level. To be in the presence of a legend is something else. Talking tuning and parts and making plans with he and Lawrence Jr made every dream I ever had complete.

I’ve said many times that “I stopped dreaming years ago because dreams die when we wake. I decided I would make goals because they can be achieved.”

Well I have achieved my goals as I always set out to do and the future is going to be very cool!!!!

Follow up to my last post. Finally got to drive my ultimate dream course, Tsukuba Circuit 2000.

Ended up being everything I had hoped for. It was and Idlers (group known most by connection to RWB) event and there was drifting, one make races, and multi make sprint races.

My sessions were yet again wet sessions but I didn’t mind. Still had a blast. Even though as you’ll see I let my confidence get the best of me at one point.

I used car play to act as comms so I was able to have Lawrence from Intec Racing act as my spotter. It was great having a voice in my ear to talk me through traffic and adjusting lines.

.media took a few laps around Chuckwalla with in our S2000 NatsukiS2k last week while we were attending .garage track day.

The sequential transmission and Mod Twin clutch continue to put the biggest smiles on our faces with the incredible performance they provide and the sweet sounds they produce. 🎶🎶🎶
