This 3.5L F150 came to us this week after having major timing work performed at another shop. The customer complaint was a hissing under acceleration. After a quick road test and visual inspection this is what we found. The previous facility improperly installed the RH turbo boot and had pinched the metal retainer of the clamp inside the boot.

NEWS | GM is launching a 30 Under 30 tech recognition program:

The industry runs at an annual deficit of 37,000 trained service technicians, per NADA estimates, and the gap hits dealers looking to increase service drive profits.

GM's answer is a 30 Under 30 program recognizing top technicians under 30 who stand out for customer service, leadership, and ongoing training.

"We are looking to grow our technician count year-over-year to make sure that we meet the demand of the market," said Andrew McKittrick, GM Director of Dealer Service and Warranty Operations.

Nominations close Oct. 30, and the 30 selected technicians will receive tools, personal AI glasses, and a service jacket.

Big picture: GM is hoping this latest initiative helps recruit additional technicians, alongside a college-based training program and a 12-week program for military vets.

Sometimes it’s nice to sit back and admire the things you have built. If you met me 10 or even 5 years ago and told me this is where my life would be, I would’ve told you that you were insane. Good things really do come to those who are patient (which I am not, most times).

I’ll post this in hopes that maybe one person reads it who is on the fence about starting their own thing, no matter what that field is. If you truly put everything you have into something and dedicate your business to taking care of people, it’s hard to fail. We all want those “good old days” and the level of service that came along with it. You can be the one in your area to start pushing things back there. Build the reputation back up for your industry. Show customers that there are people who care. Don’t look to make a dollar on someone else through lies and deceit. Just be a good person, even in business, and you will go far.

Thanks so much to all of our customers who keep the lights on and our bills paid. At the end of the day, we would be nothing without customers who trust us everyday with some of their most prized possessions and business assets. We are truly grateful for your business and hope to reach more people!
