This Sunday, small business shout out is QUIKE-E food stores, How did it start you ask?

Wilton Burgess' journey began in the mid-1960s to early 1970s working at Big Star grocery store,Cuting meat where he quickly rose through the ranks to become a store manager. When manager over the grocery store, a customer asked him , Hi ! you should open up your own store. So he did ! Wilton opened the first Quik-E convenience store in Madison Heights in 1973. His wife, Kitty Burgess, soon joined him, bringing her expertise to help grow the business. The couple's three sons played significant roles in expanding the family business. Quik-E now operates 13 stores and over 100 employees aslo owns and manages a historic gas station.(The filling station in Amhurst) The Food stores offer a variety of products, including deli foods, cold drinks, and essentials, embodying their slogan, "We make life a little easier every day." Sons Dean and Todd are now at the helm, steering the business towards future growth. Quik-E's enduring presence and commitment to excellence have set a benchmark for others. As one of Lynchburg's oldest family-owned businesses, Quik-E's American ownership and operation are particularly noteworthy. Let's commend Quik-E for its exceptional leadership and dedication to the community. We are delighted to be a part of their success and history.
