This is some kind of cool recognition for Caitlin. It started with an email a couple months ago. Napa corporate wanted to know if we had any rockstar mechanics. I said everyone we have is a rockstar. This turned into a phone conversation where we talked about all of them a little bit and they were particularly interested in Caity. Fast forward to yesterday. She got recognized as one of NAPA Auto parts top technicians in the nation for national Automotive technicians month. This kind of a cool little honor for her. So if any of you ladies out there would like to get your vehicle serviced by Caity. She is here. Works very hard, and does an amazing job. We know it is important for many of you ladies to support other ladies in everything that you do. She is Way more than capable of doing everything on your vehicle. From minor services and maintenances all the way up to major engine overhauls. She has pretty much done it all and proved that it's way more than capable of performing me top level repairs. For anyone else out there who is sick and tired of getting their vehicle aligned at some of these other places that are attempting to do alignments. Come see Caity and let's get it done correctly. Over the last several years she has learned a ton about alignments. She is excelled in many ways. We get vehicles all the time that have been at multiple other shops trying to be aligned correctly. Between her and I, we have uncovered some of the idiosyncrasies of the alignment processes that most places drastically overlooked which is causing it not to give you proper alignments. Even if they think they look good. They're missing a few steps and we've got the process. You will feel like you have a new vehicle after letting Caity align it for you. Congratulations Caitlin. You deserve it

This is a special day for anyone that still has one of these on the road still. I love that ai says it is reliable and dependable. Lol. I had to keep that on there. But it makes me miss the early days of Diesel truck repair.

Some. Days. Your truck makes a little carbon. Some days they. Make a lot! Seriously though. We have had this exact same conversation way too many times. Way too many of you think your $80000 Diesel truck is a good vehicle to get groceries and take the kids to soccer practice with. Please for your trucks sake . Let's get it cleaned out then go use it for what it is designed for. Pulling a trailer. Let's go camping or working with your truck. If you can't get away from the daily chores at least let us clean it out on a regular basis. We have many cleaning procedures to prevent this. But it must be done on a consistent basis unless you are actually working your truck hard. Then those intervals can be greatly extended. Come see us to get your truck breathing again. It will love you for it!!!

Here is another exciting episode of "Why are some people allowed to have tools". This one is a fun one. It involves multiple dealerships, an auction and a poor customer that got involved with a truck that many shops could not fix. . It came in with a remote start issue. The remote start would not work unless he cleared the dtc's. Which is fairly normal. Except no engine light was ever coming on. He took it back to the dealer and they said there are codes and it needs a lift pump. So a lift pump was installed and the codes were cleared and customer took the truck. The next day. No remote start. Then they told him it needs a nox sensor. Then it got a new nox sensor. Boom. Next day no remote start. He got frustrated and did a lot of Internet research and tossed a handful of parts at it before getting even more frustrated and called us. When I first see the truck, no engine light is illuminated and the ECM is not commanding it on. Even though there are dtc's. So we asked about the history of the truck. It is a 2024 that had come through the auction. I went ahead and ran a Carfax report. This truck is a 2024 and had spent time at 6 dealers in the course of its short life. So the original owner had it for 6 months and ran up 120000 miles on it and since he traded it in it had been at 6 dealers without being sold. Red flags everywhere. Suspecting s delete time keeping the engine light off we programmed the ECM back to stock. Boom . Now not only is it saying the engine light is on. It is still not actually coming on. But we also have about 10 more codes then it was originally setting. All injector timing and fuel trim codes. Yep a diesel with fuel trim codes. After much testing we found the EGR valve was cracked and by blocking it we cured most all the codes except a timing code for cylinder 7. Verified the crank and cam tone wheels has not slipped and decided we needed a #7 injector. There were really no balance rate issues other then a ton of fuel trim and timing codes. So we installed the number 7 injector and suddenly it was throwing missfire codes for number 7. Well now the real picture began to take shape. The injectors were all work so equally that the new injector basically was trying to over fuel just to keep up with the rest that were leaking so badly. The ECM had compensated so far on the rest that it thought they were normal. The new number 7 injustor uncovered the truth. All of the injectors were leaking and not controlling fuel properly . So it got a whole set of injector and an EGR valve. The truck is fixed except there is no engine light so it still will not pass emissions. So we pull the dash out and find a was of black tape shoved in the engine light hole. So several dealerships had their hands in this truck and could not diagnose not fix it right. Someone got frustrated and shoved a piece of tape over the led bulb for the engine light. Not to mention a delete tune to keep it out of limp mode. The customers only initial visual symptom was the remote start was not working. Be careful out there. There are a bunch of guys that are not doing their due diligence with diagnostics. They are just tossing parts and deleting to cover up issues they don't understand. Come see us first and skip all the middle men. We could have saved this truck at least 7 different dealers and tons of frustration.

Here is a new series i am. Starting. It is titled why are some people allowed to have tools. It is dedicated to all the shops and individual out there that should not be allowed to buy or own tools. This one is brought to you by "a Duramax on the verge of total destruction.* Customer stated another shop has just been working on his truck and replaced the injectors. It now is having several issues including a random missfire. They are sick and tired of the shop that has been working on it so they come see us. As we always do I perform a quick inspection before I ever drive any vehicle. Check coolant, oil, tires, and so on. This vehicle has a crankcase full of diesel fuel. The oil level indicator showed almost 6" over the full mark. Knowing the old Duramax engines well I felt before we even drove the truck we needed to do an oil sample to make sure no catastrophic engine damage has already occured. And pull the valve covers to see what the previous "" shop"" left loose thinking we may find a return line loose. Well that is where it gets interesting. Total chayoss under the valve cover. The valve bridges were not installed properly. This ultimately resulted in the rocker bridge rubbing a hole in the side of the injector to a point it rubbed I to the high pressure side of the injector causing massive fuel loss I to the engine oil. On the other hand that rocker bridge had not been pushing down on the valve but the valve keeper retainer. Ultimately causing it to unseat the keepers every engine rotation causing wear between the valves, keepers and the retainer. We had rotated the engine up to top dead center and went to remove the spring to take a look when the valve fell out of the keeper and onto the piston. Has we started this truck one time the keeper would have let go and we would have had a valve dancing around on the piston. It would not have been pretty. Lesson learned. Stop taking your Diesel trucks to shops that do not regularly work with these engines. They are way more complex them most general repair shops can ever handle or imagine. Luckily the oil sample came back with no evidence of bearing wear or any critical engine wear. But it was 49% diluted with diesel fuel. At this point we are pulling the head to install a valve that was heavily damaged. We will inspect the rod and main bearings just to be safe. We will have saved this Duramax from complete anihalation in 2 different ways. See if we were to have started it and the valve dropped it would have destroyed the piston and valve and needed a new engine. On the other hand if the valve stayed in tact and we drove it. Oil dilution alone would have wiped out all of the bearings in the engine as well as the turbo. Skip all the middle men and all the headaches that come along with them and just come see us first.

There are always so many questions asked about good and honest mechanics around. We see vehicles come to us from customers that are frankly completely sick of the quality of repairs they are getting done. They are sick of sub par repairs done at drastically elevated prices. A lot of them have completely lost hope that anyone can fix their vehicles. Gas or diesel. Electric vehicles or semis and everything in between. We can get you accurately diagnosed and fixed right. Here is some I had a little fun with recently. I had actually forgotten about it until they sent me a link to my episode. When the guys from Honest garage podcast called me and wanted me to be on an episode I hesitated. I don't do public things very well. I honestly am self conscious about the way my voice sounds when it is recorded. "Stupid right". But after consideration and a few phone calls I figured why not. We did the podcast and these guys are great. So please enjoy and feel free to share with your friends who may be on the fence about auto repair. Maybe someone can share with the other lovelanders page too. I can't because it would be "promoting a business" which they froun upon. But I think this is real and honest about the state of the automotive industry. Feel free to check out their other podcasts too. Some of the other guys on here basically say the same thing I do but in different words n it it is cool to see.
