Many test drives are super quick, but spending more time driving will help you notice if the seat or ride isn’t comfortable—whether it’s your back,legs,Butt or neck. Imagine getting your car, driving to work the next day, and realizing it’s not as comfy as you thought! It’s kind of like renting a car for a trip and realizing 15 minutes in that the seat isn’t great—no fun, right? Let’s avoid that with your new car! Picking the right car for your teenager can make a huge difference when it comes to safety. Here's a quick tip: when you're car shopping, have your teen jump in the driver’s seat. Adjust the seat and steering wheel, then ask them if they notice any blind spots. If they can’t see well or there’s a spot that’s a major issue, cross that car off the list. Blind spots are a big deal, and I've heard too many stories about accidents caused by them.

Next, check out the seatbelt. Have them adjust it and see if it feels comfortable. If it’s awkward or uncomfortable, that’s a problem—teens are way more likely to skip wearing a seatbelt if it isn’t comfy, and that can be life or death. Over half the teens who died in crashes without seatbelts could’ve survived if they were wearing one.
