Most auto manufacturers have their own special formula of coolant and BMW is no exception. BMW vehicles must only be filled with a long term ethylene glycol antifreeze/coolant that contains corrosion inhibitors compatible with aluminum. This means you need genuine coolant if you want your BMW to stand the test of time.
