Singer Vehicle Design

Singer Vehicle Design The Porsche 911 Restored - Reimagined - Reborn Singer Vehicle Design was founded in 2009 to explore the creative possibilities in classic vehicle design.

We see our role as 21st Century coachbuilders dedicated to the passionate study, preservation and optimization of the world’s most respected high performance vehicles through modern techniques and unique and fresh perspectives. Our first design study was an attempt to present a restored and optimized, classic air-cooled Porsche 911 – in our view the most important sports car on the planet and worthy of such celebration both for its iconic status and the genius of the company that produced it. Our efforts were well received and we forged ahead with the necessary research and development to bring its features to a wider audience. We were pleased to share the news that barely a year after our debut, the first Singer modified vehicle was presented back to its owner in September 2010. Our work involves taking a customer’s existing vehicle and performing both restorative work and cutting edge modifications to update the car's performance, aesthetics and modern day useability in an attempt to optimize its strengths while preserving the essence and magic of the original. We see these restorative and modification procedures as a modest contribution to the recycling culture and a method of saving older vehicles from an uncertain fate. As our work evolves, we are proud to announce two important new partners in this process: the internationally renowned motorsport engineering powerhouse Cosworth will be our exclusive engine constructor, and the globally recognized Aria Group will provide state-of-the-art composite technology and world-class body preparation and painting artisanship. Such partnership brings new levels of sophistication, efficiency and reliability to our work. It also ensures that we can meet the increasing demand and retain and build upon our burgeoning reputation for first-class ex*****on. To discover more about Singer, please explore our website: www.singervehicledesign.com. We hope our message and ideas reach their audience in the spirit they were created: with sincerity and respect for classic vehicle design and the people and passion that surround it. 21st century engineering and uncompromising ex*****on

DLS Turbo services were shaped utilizing endless clay modeling iterations and Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) analysis to optimize airflow. A channel in the roof and rear window (visible in the front and rear images) directs air over the car and feeds the rear spoilers. Intakes in the rear side windows feed air to the engine fan. NACA ducts are precisely integrated into flared fenders to feed air to oil coolers and the engine’s two turbochargers.

Inside, the dashboard, doors, side pillars, centre console and headliner continue Benincasa Green and Erba Green leathers throughout the cabin, while the rear seat environment is finished in Aventurine Green to match the exterior. A rear X-brace aids in chassis dynamics and stiffness.

Behind the two-tone steering wheel sit DLS Turbo-specific floating gauges, assembled using techniques from high watchmaking.

A raised shift lever with exposed gear linkages provides analog connection to 710 HP and 750NM of torque, sent exclusively to the rear wheels. Electronic Stability Control systems were developed with Bosch, allowing the driver to select from 5 modes using the rotary switch just below the gear shifter.

The 934/5 endurance racer of the late 1970s evolved from careful reading of motorsport regulations. Dramatic bodywork optimized airflow to cool powerful turbocharged engines and hardworking brakes, while also accommodating wider wheels. DLS Turbo services are inspired by this chapter in the evolution of the 911.

This owner has personalised their car’s racing-inspired carbon fiber bodywork in Aventurine Green with polished nickel anodized bright trim and satin carbon fiber exterior accents. Both track and road-focused bodywork has been specified for ultimate freedom of choice, complemented by magnesium wheels with Piano Black and Nickel tinted turbofan-style covers.

The 3.8L flat six in the rear of the car is based on the Type 964’s engine, revs to 9000rpm and develops 710HP and 750Nm of torque with the help of twin turbochargers. For this engine, the cylinder heads are water-cooled, while the cylinder walls are air-cooled, via the electrically powered horizontal fan.

Inside, a mix of lighter Benincasa Green and darker Erba Green leathers create a tonal relationship with the exterior color choice. Road-focused seat centres are finished in a bespoke leather weave comprised of light green, tan and bone.

Porsches meet Pacific Northwest.

A second Porsche 911 reimagined by Singer visited Pfaff Reserve Vancouver earlier this year, reimagined through DLS Turbo services in Turbo Racing White with Signal Yellow exterior graphics.

Carbon fiber bodywork for DLS Turbo services was shaped with the help of computational fluid dynamics and references Porsche’s rare 934.5 endurance racer from the late 1970s.

For ultimate freedom of choice, Singer’s restoration services allow owners to specify their car with road or track-focused front fascia and rear bodywork. In this case a dramatic track-focused configuration has been chosen, with a deep front spoiler and larger, raised rear wing.

In front of the driver, the familiar 911 instrument layout is reimagined. Hand-built, floating gauges with Ch*****ne bezels bring high-watchmaking standards into the cabin while delivering a driver-focused experience.

Under the rear decklid sits the original Type M64 ‘Mezger’ engine from the 964 Porsche 911, now expanded to 3.8 litres and twin turbocharged.

Utilizing air-water intercooling, water-cooled cylinder heads with air-cooled cylinders and a horizontally mounted cooling fan, output increases to 710HP and 750 NM of torque.

A raised six-speed manual with exposed gear linkages sends power exclusively to the rear wheels, and the driver may select from five drive modes.

Air-cooled Porsche meets the water-cooled Pacific Northwest

Earlier this year, we took a trip north to visit Pfaff Reserve Vancouver Singer’s partner providing support to owners in Vancouver and surrounding regions.

One of the cars that joined the trip was a Porsche 911 coupe reimagined through Classic Turbo services.

Carbon fiber bodywork references Porsche’s Type 930 and is specified in Lunar Silver.

Exterior trim such as the reimagined shark fin air intake and bumper louvres are finished in soft touch black, reminiscent of the rubberized impact bumpers of the time period.

Above the iconic whale tail rear spoiler, a rear window wiper has been specified, a feature that could also be optioned in period.

Inside, Melrose red leather is specified for the 8-way adjustable sport seats, with seat centers featuring uniform woven leather accents.

Under the rear decklid sits the original Type M64 ‘Mezger’ engine from the 964 Porsche 911, now expanded to 3.8 litres and twin turbocharged.

Utilizing variable geometry turbochargers and air-water intercooling, output is raised to 510 HP and 610 NM of torque. A bespoke six-speed manual transmission sends power exclusively to the rear wheels.
