It’s hard to believe that just 8 years ago, Mattea and I were working on our cars on jack stands in a storage unit. No lift, no air compressor, just some basic tools and a dream of someday having a “real” business. Today we have 4 times the space, 4 lifts, a solid employee, and nearly every tool we need to do the job right for our customers. Today we are thankful for all of our loyal customers and followers who believed in us from the start, and to all of our new customers that we acquire every day. We couldn’t do it without each and every one of you.

Happy thanksgiving to all!!
From Ken, Mattea, and Andy.

Highlights from the last four weeks of our trip
Total miles traveled to the end: 17,593

We visited Zion National Park and the Grand Canyon.
We hiked through The Belly of The Dragon
We hiked to Lake Powell in Arizona for a swim
We visited Swingarm City and Moab so Pepto and Green could have some fun!

We replaced a wheel bearing on Green in the middle of the desert in Utah

We checked out the Colorado River on our way to see good friends, Amy, Tom and family. While in Colorado we also visited BJ and Sandy. It was great catching up with good friends we haven’t seen in a long time. Thank you all for the incredible hospitality and being a big part of our journey!

We drove to the top of Pikes Peak and brewed coffee at 14,115 feet.

We stayed in Roswell, NM to explore the extraterrestrial area. We hiked in about a mile to the coordinates of one of the claimed crash sites. Found no aliens 🤣

We camped by a fishing spot in Texas and then headed to SubieFest Texas where we surprised our good friend Jason.
Ken went for a wild ride in Bucky’s Betty which was a blast! Thank you Bucky!

We stopped at Bray’s Auto Museum and Playground in Madisonville, TX where Ken drove their 1968 Plymouth Road Runner
around the track. He swung that boat around all 8 turns on their one mile track a few times.

We visited our friend Kevin in Texas. Thank you for the hospitality, Kevin! It was great to see you.

We spent a day exploring the city of New Orleans and eating lots of good food.

We stayed with Jason in Alabama where we visited the restaurant he works at and had one of the most incredible meals including his homemade cookies and cream cheese cake and key lime pie. Thank you for having us, Jason and making your home our home for a couple days!

Last but not least, we spent our last few days of the trip in GA. We visited Joe and family. We enjoyed good company and even went out on a little boat cruise on Lake Lanier. We visited Aunt Judy and Uncle John which is always a blast! We got to catch up with Christopher and family for an afternoon. We spent a couple nights with Steve and Stephanie which is our home away from home. Thank you all for the hospitality!

That concludes our Epic Road Trip, it was the first but certainly not the last.

Highlights from week ten of our epic road trip:
Total miles travel: 12,281

Before leaving California we stopped in to visit Ken’s great aunts and great uncle. This was an amazing time to be able to spend with family we never get to see! In their 80s & 90s these four are still full of life!

Next stop was Las Vegas because, why not?! We tried our hand at the slot machines a few times, took a walk down the strip and enjoyed some dinner. We didn’t wake up broke or hungover so it was a good time in our book!

From there we ventured into Utah to check out the Bonneville Salt Flats. The flats were incredible! Pepto and Green got to stretch their legs and enjoy some high speed adventures.

We found a place to camp outside of the salt flats with an incredible view. We hiked up a mountain close by to look down at our campsite at sunset.

Heading back south, we made our way to Hurricane, UT for the weekend. Tomorrow we will be exploring Zion National Park

Highlights from week eight & nine of our Epic Road Trip:
Total miles traveled: 11,086 (at the end of week nine)

We explored Glacer National Park where we found an area to hike down to Saint Mary Lake and get a beautiful view of the valley. The next morning we drove through the park while the sun was rising on our travels to Washington.

On the way, we found a nice jump to test out the Yellow speed racing gravel spec suspension which passed the test with flying colors, literally.

We spent a day with Nana in Washington. We got to visit the family horses and enjoy a meal at her favorite Mexican restaurant. We enjoyed this time very much!

We traveled down the pacific coast highway into CA. We visited our friend Rick who took us on his boat where we caught tons of fish. We went home and made the best fish tacos you could imagine. Thank you for the hospitality, Rick!

We drove down The Avenue of the Giants to check out the huge redwoods which blew our minds!

We visited San Diego which was a cool city to check out. Very different from the rest of our travels but it was a great experience

Next was Yosemite where we hiked to Yosemite Falls and enjoyed the most beautiful scenery we could have ever imagined.

We ended our week spending time with Bucky Lasek where he was gracious enough to allow us to do oil changes on the rallycars in his driveway. We spent the day wrenching, hanging out and preparing for a local Subaru meet with the San Diego Subies group at Best Pizza & Brew in Vista, CA. This was an incredible time with some amazing people. Thank you for the hospitality Bucky & Family!

And the journey continues…

Total miles traveled: 6000-7000

We spent week six in Wisconsin with Mom!
We had many laughs and enjoyed our time together very much. We spent our final day together fishing on Lake Kegonsa.

From there, we made our journey to Angle Inlet, MN which is the Northernmost Point of the Contiguous US. This requires an hour drive through Canada. Pepto and Green went International! We experienced no issues at the border and a big chunk of the drive was on dirt so you know we enjoyed that.

We stopped for gas and lunch one day and accidentally ended up in the geographical center of North America in Rugby, ND.

We made our way to Yellowstone National Park which was incredible beyond words.

On our journey from Yellowstone we randomly ended up in the same city as our friend CJ Cameron, who we got to catch up and spend time with while doing some repairs / upgrades in the O’Reilly’s parking lot. It really is a small world!

Along our journey during these weeks, we have met so many really cool people and have found many incredible places to camp (usually of which are on some epic dirt roads)

Total miles traveled: 5500

We took a tour at Vermont SportsCar which is an amazing facility and always a blast to visit.

From there we made our way to New Hampshire to visit with the Ingersolls. They took us in like family and gave us a nice place to stay for the weekend. We had a blast. Thank you all for the hospitality!

We spent a day at Team O'Neil for RallyFest. Thank you to Sara and Chase, this experience would have never been possible without them! Shoutout to Jamie Beliveau for the wild rallycar ride along that blew our minds. Thank you to Team O’Neil for putting on an awesome event.

From there we headed to New York to spend time with the Mackenzie family, who took us in as one of their own for a couple of days. We spent the time catching up, laughing and enjoying eachothers company. Thank you all for having us!

We stopped in to visit with Perry Seaman and family who gave us a nice place to crash for the night. We spent breakfast talking about rally. We could have stayed there all day but kicked ourselves out to get back on the road. Thank you all for the hospitality!

Not far down the road on our journey we stopped to fish at a small lake and caught a massive striped bass!

And the journey continues…

Team Higher Ground is in full force. While Mattea and I are out exploring the country in our rally cars, our 3rd musketeer is back at the fort keeping everything together. And I must say, he’s doing an amazing job. Andy has serviced close to 30 vehicles since we’ve been gone. He’s overcome every obstacle that has come his way so far. From drain plugs damaged from a previous shops work, to parts manufacturers defects, there doesn’t seem to be anything that Andy can’t do. I can’t even express how pleased we are to have him on our team.

Also, Please help us wish Andy a Happy Birthday today. If you know him, see him, or happen to be at the shop for an appointment, give him some love. He deserves it. One of the best humans I have ever had the pleasure of knowing. Keep up the good work, Andy. We’ll be home soon.

Highlights from week four of our Epic Road Trip:
Total miles traveled: 4,856

We started off by visiting some roads in Maine which used to be a part of New England Forest Rally. We found a hill to camp on off of South Arm. The next day we picked some wild flowers for Erin.

We went to the Easternmost point in the US in Lubec, ME and the following day we went to the first US Mile in Fort Kent, Maine.

We camped at a top secret location in North Maine which provided tons of adventure!

We stayed in Wilton, ME for a night due to a hole in Mean Greens exhaust that we got welded at a shop in town. Met tons of locals here that were excited about the rallycars!

We finished off the week by driving to the top of Mount Washington, which was an incredible experience. Both Pepto and Green made it up and down with no issues.

We met up with our friends, Shawna and Jason who happen to be vacationing in Maine and then met up again on Mount Washington. It was cool to see friends we usually see once a year, three separate times on this trip in three different states.

Stay tuned for next weeks adventures!

Highlights from week three of our Epic Road Trip:

This week we spent in Vermont with Mattea‘s family. It has been a few years since we’ve been able to visit, so it was great catching up with family and friends.

We also drove some local dirt roads in true Higher Ground fashion and fished in the local creek.

We got some repairs done where Mattea’s brother-in-law works. Huge shoutout to Junction Auto in New Haven, VT and to Zachery for the help!

We had a lot of good laughs and much needed family time before heading off on our next leg of the journey!

Highlights from week two of our Epic Road Trip:
Total miles traveled: 2,767

Vintage cars, off-road exploring, fishing and visiting friends

As our journey up the east coast continues, a friend of ours gave us a tour of an incredible car collection that blew our minds. We could have spent all day there!

Next we made our way to visit Allen. We enjoyed some amazing Mexican food, told rally stories and stayed so long the restaurant kicked us out

We visited our friends Christian LaPrad and Kirsten in VA. We delivered one of our custom watches, enjoyed some time catching up and then checked out some local dirt roads.

Next was Goose Point Park Campground on Philpott Lake. We stayed for a couple nights, did some fishing and made friends with one of the park rangers. Super cool dude!

We ended our week in Maryland with Courtney, Lori and Christian. The hospitality from this family was above and beyond! We enjoyed a tour of the town, checking out all of Courtney’s Subaru projects and had an incredible meal together before heading off to our next adventure…

Highlights from week one of our epic road trip:
Total miles traveled: 1,414

Riverside camping, fishing, wrenching, mountain road driving, and catching up with friends and family.

We want to thank Cross and Abigail Fedina for providing us a last-minute place to stay, with great company and hospitality! It was great catching up with you guys, checking out the Subaru collection and hanging out with the dogs.

Thank you to Jordon, Natalie and Yeti Haberer for opening their home to us for a few nights while visiting Tennessee. Not only did they let us take over their house, they let us take over the garage. We swapped mean greens driveline for the long journey ahead. Thank you guys for the hospitality and good laughs as always!

Thank you to Thomas Auto Service in TN, for the alignments on Pepto and Green. It was great catching up with you guys.

To top it all off, we got a surprise visit from Mom. We had a nice dinner with her, our friend Sean and his lady, Angie

We spent a day on The Dragon and visted the Fontana Dam with Jason and Shawna in the MR2 and David in the GR Corolla. It was great seeing you guys!

During a random occurrence, Blake and Remy happen to be in Knoxville Saturday night so we all got together with Jordon and David. It was a random reunion of rally friends which was awesome!

Finally we headed over to NC Sunday morning and spent some time chillin with Nick Fowler. We had good time telling rally stories and many laughs. He suggested a sweet campground in the Carolina Beach state park that we will be enjoying today and doing some fishing.

More excitement to come…
