The original location of Oak Hill Automotive 1972-1975 in the heart of downtown Oak Hill. The town was approximately 7seconds from city limit sign to city limit sign. The building was a working blacksmith shop in the rear and the front was rented to be the start of a 50 plus year business. This community has faded away as all original buildings have been gone for years. Fun fact the 1950 ford was driven for 450k miles by my Dad with a flat head the entire time. The 1951 F-7 Ford wrecker still lives on the original salvage yard property.

The second of only three locations of Oak Hill Automotive approximately 1975 until Feb 1991. This was the location that launched the crankshaft grinding super star Clarke Watts Sr. With alittle help from Ai we get to step back in time. Fun fact, my dad delivered 100 cranks at a time in a 63 crew cab truck, complete with s**g carpet inside. Do You have a crankshaft story from this location?

Another one back on the road. Front floor patch job and a new battery had it back up and going. Ended with windshields being replaced with customer supplied chipped glass. Bought and stored 4 years so who knows when the damage happened.

Aircooled………mostly………..well kinda! Engine filled with fuel into the oil and ran until the thrust bearing was welding itself to the crankshaft. Endplay shims were sticking together and cupped as well.

Oak Hill VW family getting it done. Congrats to Lorrie on her first win. Even more special Rick won the pro class on the same night! Way to go Tarter family. Proud of what Y’all accomplished!

1963 chassis restoration. Lower frame head rust repair, new floorpans, new fuel line ran. Now the fun can begin………..
