🚨The more you know!!!🚨
In Georgia, insurance consumers have the right to choose their own auto repair shop and cannot be forced by insurers to use a specific facility, as protected by Georgia law (O.C.G.A. § 33-34-6) and recent anti-steering legislation. Insurers cannot steer customers to preferred shops, imply claim denials for using independent shops, or ignore manufacturer repair procedures.

Key Georgia Insurance Repair Rights (Auto)
Freedom of Choice: You have the right to select any repair shop of your choice. Insurers are prohibited from requiring you to use a specific shop, particularly those in which they have a financial interest.
Anti-Steering Protections: Insurers cannot tell you that using a non-preferred shop will result in delays, reduced payments, or denial of claims.
Quality Repairs: The insurer's estimate must be reasonable and sufficient to restore the vehicle to its pre-accident condition.
Manufacturer Standards: Insurers cannot require repairers to deviate from, or omit, proper OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) repair procedures.
Supplemental Payments: If your chosen shop finds that necessary repairs exceed the insurer’s initial estimate, the insurer must respond within 15 days, either paying for the extra costs or recommending a shop that will do it for the lower price.
