The Webster definition of “honor” speaks of respect, privilege, reputation, recognition, public esteem, credibility, and superior standing.
Today at 5:00 PM, Adams Ford will lock the doors of operation for its last time. With nearly 50 years of business, my grandfather, Wayne Adams, set out to provide honest, caring and straight forward car sales to this wonderful three-stoplight town.
Many years ago, my mother, Linda Perot, took over those reigns and continued the same level of success while providing a trustworthy and comfortable experience in sales and service for each customer that walked through those same doors.
“No fancy thrills; just good and honest deals”. Adams Ford, rarely seen on TV, aimed to find a way to conduct day-to-day functionality without creating a higher line in overall costs. This was for the benefit of the customer - something my grandfather wanted, as well as my mother.
While I am sad to see the doors closed and the lights and phones turned off, I will never forget the memories of growing up at 2002 Main Street. Afterall, this was often my after-school hangout.
I’m reminded of so many great people that helped pave the way for so many years of operations. Douglas Stone, Scott Evans, Nevelyn Foshee, Wesley Reynolds, Laura Nunley, Scott Gibbs, Jody Matthews, Brian Adams and so many more. These fine people believed in the method of true, honest business that put the consumer first.
I am blessed to be one of three grandsons of Wayne Adams. I am privileged to be the son of Linda Perot. I will always respect this family and every person that gave a portion of themselves to this company. I am grateful at the public esteem and credibility that has been earned. I am prideful of the recognition that has been given. I am joyfully tearful at each memory and humbled to have played a very small part in this highly efficient wheel.
Thank you to each customer, employee, every supporter and every friend that has provided the heartbeat in this family company.
Honor is defined as Adams Ford.
