When the saying drive it til the wheels fall off is taken a little too seriously.
Big thanks to Courville's Garage and their towing friends, for getting this customer off the road without more damage, and safely back to the yard so I could get it fixed up.
By lunch time the following day, this bucket truck was back in service and ready to roll again for a storm call to restore power in our region.

Couple weeks ago, I had a old customer from the shop I use to work for, come through town and had a wheel seal blow out after brakes were just put on. Due to the rotors and hubs being one bolted assembly, to change the rotors, you have to remove the hub. The nut wasn't properly torqued down so it loosened up and caused a wheel seal leak.
Thankfully for him, he caught it early and called me before it did more damage. I don't go out for pickup work anymore but due to the client and what he was hauling and the escorts he had with him, I came out to get him back going before his restricted hours came.
New bearings and races, wheel seal, and degreasing, and checked the other side for proper torque, he was back on the road to California.
PS. Oil bath bearings do not get grease.

Simple annual service and scan for the check engine light for a glowplug, turned into a way bigger issue than inspected. Its always 1 broken bolt away from becoming a 3 day project.

Due to the location of this machine for 10 months out of the year working on beach front properies, the salt in air, and years of dust blowing around and collected in the top of the engine, rusted the outside of the glowplugs and caused them to break off upon removal. Starting off with soaking them for weeks in penetrating oil, the EZ out broke off and would require welding or drilling to remove the remaining bit of the glowplugs. At this point I needed a clean workspace to disassemble the engine in so we had it moved to a better location. Inorder to get access to weld to the glowplugs, we had to remove the injectors which also turned into a battle to get them removed. After many attempts with Lava-Torch Fabrication of welding washers and nuts to the glowplugs, removal of the head was needed to safely drill out the glowplugs. Once everything was removed and cleaned, assembly was a breeze. Even gave the machine a bath and a detail in the cab

If anyone is trying to reach out to me via text message and I haven't responded. I have been trying to resolve a problem with AT&T over the last couple days, and switched phones this morning with the same issue still present.
Sorry for any inconveniences.

Weekend storming with a great customer for support. Couple quick repairs and kept the guys happy with some hot food for lunch and dinner instead of fast food places. Great to see another part of this beautiful country and watch these guys work quickly and efficiently to get power restored for people.

Notice of Policy Changes – Effective Immediately

As I return to regular operations, I want to inform my customers of several important policy updates regarding billing and payments. These changes are necessary due to ongoing issues with delayed payments, which have made it difficult to continue providing high-quality service under the current terms.

Please note the following updates:
• All invoices are due upon receipt.
I am a mechanic—not a financial institution. If you require extended time to pay, please utilize a credit card or personal/business financing. I am unable to float balances.
• New rate structure:
My service rates will be increasing to reflect current operating costs and the impact of delayed payments.
• Interest on overdue invoices:
Invoices not paid within 7 calendar days will incur interest charges.
• Payment method requirements:
All customers will be required to have a credit card or business checking account on file, which will be charged upon job completion.
Customers in good standing may still pay by check, at my discretion.
• Non-payment policy:
Failure to remit payment in a timely manner will result in formal collection efforts and potential legal action.

I appreciate your understanding and continued support. These updates are designed to ensure I can continue delivering dependable, timely service while maintaining a sustainable business.

Please reach out if you have any questions or need to update your payment information.

Thank you.
Jack

Huge thanks to Jon @ JSilva Repair for coming by this afternoon and helping swap engines over and going above and beyond by helping put together a long block. Hopefully Tuesday we will be putting some miles back on her.
Stay tuned for the specs on the build in next post I make.

He may be the competition but when a buddy is in need, you help him get back in the road. His 6.0 powerstroke decided it didn’t want to anymore. Swapped it out with a custom built motor and he’ll be back on the road making money in no time. Happy to help Jack Santo Junior's Equipment Repair- JER.
