The Mathews Volunteer Fire Department is deeply saddened by the loss of longtime member Kenny Garrett. His dedication, brotherhood, and service to this department and community will never be forgotten.

We would also like to extend a sincere and heartfelt thank you to Dr. Daniel Mathews, Superintendent of Mathews County Public Schools, for allowing the use of the Brooks Auditorium at Thomas Hunter Middle School on Sunday, April 19th for Kenny Garrett’s funeral service.

Your support during this time means more than words can express, and it reflects the strength of this community coming together to honor one of our own.
