Some things change with time. However, our commitment to learning, growing, and serving our customers never has.

This newspaper clipping takes us back to 1986, when Mr. Overby accepted a Top 10 Dealer Award from Godfrey Marine in Elkhart, Indiana. That year, Overby Marine was also recognized as North Carolina's top Godfrey dealer.

That recognition was especially meaningful because pontoons have been a part of Overby Marine's story for decades. From our early days with Aqua Patio and Godfrey, pontoons have become a true staple of our business. Today, we're proud to carry Avalon and Bennington, two premium pontoon brands that continue that tradition. Fast forward nearly 40 years, and our team was just back in Elkhart for a Dealer Meeting, continuing a tradition that started long ago. Dealer meetings have always been an important part of our business, giving our team the opportunity to learn about new products, technology, and ways to better serve our customers.

Mr. Overby understood that you never stop learning. He was selective about the products he carried and committed to knowing those products inside and out. That same mindset continues to guide our team today. And while the industry has changed dramatically since 1986, one thing would make Mr. Overby proud: Overby Marine is still growing, still learning, and still among the best. Today, we're proud to be North Carolina's #1 Avalon dealer, continuing a legacy that began with a small family business in Kittrell in 1971.

We can only imagine how proud and amazed Mr. Overby would be to see how far the boating industry and Overby Marine have come. ❤️
