There are more than 500 people in Ramsey County with no way to get out of the cold.
Tonight, the wind is expected to whip at up to 40 miles an hour with a wind chill around 20 below zero – and we’re going to do our part to help people stay warm by opening the lobby of the Law Enforcement Center for the night.
Anyone in need of a safe, warm place to stay can come to the LEC from 7:30 p.m. tonight (Dec. 4) until 7:30 a.m. tomorrow (Dec. 5).
Law enforcement personnel from across the county will be available to bring people to the LEC starting at 7:30 tonight.
Tonight will be brutally cold and uncooperatively windy in Ramsey County. Thanks for helping us make sure as many people as possible are safe and warm.
HOW TO HELP:
- Call the Ramsey County non-emergency number (651-291-1111) if you know of someone who needs transportation to the LEC for the night
- Call 911 if you see someone who appears to be in immediate danger or needs medical attention
- Donate mittens, socks, hats and other warm weather gear at the LEC during normal business hours
