๐“๐ข๐ ๐ก๐ญ - probably the most used term in karting and is often confused as to what it is. There's actually a couple different tight conditions you can run into...
๐‘๐‘ ๐“๐ข๐ ๐ก๐ญ - this is when the RR is being overworked. Rolling resistance goes up slowing the kart, especially center-off. Normal symptoms: motor will bog, motor temps increase, kart won't accelerate off corner.
๐‹๐‘ ๐“๐ข๐ ๐ก๐ญ - this is when the LR is being overworked. Normal symptoms: kart won't accelerate off the corner, kart will drive anywhere, motor doesn't get hot nor bog, no speed.
Push? Folks sometimes describe a tight kart as a push... but that is not the case

๐๐ฎ๐ฌ๐ก (understeer) - occurs when the front of the kart cannot make enough grip/bite to keep the front of the kart from sliding up the track. This is normally because the rear tires are overworking the fronts.

๐‹๐จ๐จ๐ฌ๐ž (oversteer) - occurs when the rear of the kart cannot make enough grip/bite to keep the rear of the kart from sliding up the track. Front tires are overworking the rears.

๐…๐ซ๐ž๐ž - (not the same as loose) is when the kart generates its lowest amount of rolling resistance, while still producing enough grip/bite to provide maximum acceleration off the corner. This is really what you're aiming for every time you hit the track!

๐…๐ฅ๐š๐ญ - when the kart isn't sliding anywhere but isn't making speed either. The kart is just making consistent, slow laps.

๐‚๐† (center of gravity) & ๐•๐‚๐† (vertical center of gravity) - CG is the point on the chassis where if you could push up on it, the entire kart would lift and not tip in any direction. The VCG is the vertical distance above the ground where the center of gravity is located.

๐๐ข๐ญ๐ž - meaning the amount of grip present. Can refer to the amount of grip in the track, tires, or the kart. Can also refer to the amount of grip any one particular or combination of tires may produce. No matter what, it ultimately describes the lateral or driving force the tire can produce.
๐’๐ข๐๐ž๐›๐ข๐ญ๐ž - how much grip the RF & RR can make or are making.

PRC Tech Tip Tuesday with a great discussion on left side weight
Thank you James and PRC for helping everyone. Thats why im glad to be apart of

Left Side Weight

Left side weight is defined as the percentage of the total weight of the chassis carried by the left side tires. To achieve this percentage, you will simply add the totals of the LF & LR corners on your scales, then divide by the total weight of the kart. Most modern scales have the capability of producing this percentage automatically for you.

With that said, the left side weight creates the "static preload" on the left side tires, and locates the center of gravity from left to right on the chassis.

Left is very important in that it keeps the left side tires on the ground, and keeps the kart mostly flat in the corner. In situations where you are on a higher bite surface, you will probably need more left. On lower bite, less left. It's all about finding the right balance.

Also, think about chassis stiffness in regards to left side weight. If the chassis is stiffer, then it will usually need less left since the stiffness of the chassis helps keep the kart flat. On chassis that flex more, you usually need more left to keep the kart flat and the LR on the ground.

Banking can also come into play in regards to left. A flatter track typically creates more g-forces & weight transfer. So, a flat track will sometimes need more left to keep the left side tires down. On a higher banked track, the kart will not experience as much load, and you can occasionally run less left.

Generally speaking, you will want to increase left if the kart is tight, and overloading the right side tires, especially the RR. You will decrease left if the kart is overloaded on the left sides, especially the LR (causing a push).

Obviously, there are many other factors that play key roles in how the kart transitions through the corner. You have to find the right match for all of these numbers for the kart to perform as it should. We provide baseline percentages for each kart because they have proven to perform well with those numbers. Start within the baseline and adjust based on what you feel. Once you find your "sweet spot" leave it alone, as your set up should work on nearly every track you run (provided that the tires are right).
