⚠️ PSA for GM Owners – Locked Modules Mean New Parts!

If you own a newer GM vehicle (especially 2019 and up), you need to know this:
Many control modules in these cars are permanently locked to the original VIN.

That means if your Engine Control Module, Body Control Module, or other key electronics fail — used parts won’t work.
No amount of “reprogramming” will unlock them.

đź”’ Why?
GM’s newer Global B security system ties these modules to your car’s unique ID. Once paired, they can’t be moved to another vehicle.

đź’ˇ What this means for you:
If one of these modules goes bad, you’ll need to buy a brand-new one and have it properly programmed.
