Normally I delete these comments and just keep it moving. But today I wanted to share this.

Five years ago, my family made the decision to leave South Florida and move to Texas. It was one of the best decisions we’ve ever made! We don’t regret it for a second.

I’ve met some of the kindest, most welcoming people I’ve ever known here. At the same time, I’ve also experienced more direct racism than I have in my entire life. Since moving here, I’ve been called a “monkey,” a “Negro,” and other names I never imagined I’d hear directed at me. My son who is half White and ranked among the top 100 students academically in the state has experienced it too.

For a long time, I even struggled with putting my face in my business advertisements because I worried my skin color would affect how people viewed my company or if they would choose to use me… And it does clearly.

I don’t even know where I am getting at or why I am writing this. I am a proud American and an honorable person and I wish people would be better.
